Entries Coming In For Toledo's Glass City Late Model Event
TOLEDO, OH (9-8-2008)-- As usual, the first 2 entries for Toledo Speedway’s Miller Lite Glass City 200 have been received from Paul Pelletier and Dennis Strickland. The duo are always quick with their entries for the prestigious Late Model invitational. Brian Campbell of Jenison, MI is the defending champion of the event. The race is set for Saturday evening, September 20.
...ARCA Factory Stock Driver Jim Harmon Passes
Toledo Speedway ARCA Factory Stock driver James L. (Jim) Harmon died September 13 at the age of 59. Jim drove the #3 at Toledo since the 2006 season. A U.S. Army veteran serving overseas from 1966-1969, Jim was a licensed airplane pilot, certified mechanic for the City of Toledo municipal garage and was active in Free Masonry, achieving the 32nd degree. Preceded in death by his mother Helen, he is survived by his father James L. Harmon Sr.; children Bryan, Eric, Fred, Adam, Kim and Shelly; sister Pam Stanton; brothers Tim Harmon and Dave Harmon; and grandchildren, nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held at Blanchard-Strabler Funeral Home (1163 W. Sylvania at Lockwood in Toledo, 419-269-1111) with visitation Friday Sept. 19 from 2-8 p.m. and services Saturday Sept. 20 at 10 a.m.

TOLEDO, OH (5-30-2008)-- Despite threatening weather looming in the distance and the usual lousy forecast, Toledo Speedway was able to complete all but 1 race on Armed Forces Appreciation Night. The Friday night show was completed with the exception of the 10 lap Factory Stock B Main. Howard Kelley Jr., Jeremy Vanderhoof and Cory McCaughey posted feature wins before the rains hit the track.

TOLEDO, OH (7-17-2008)-- NASCAR driver David Stremme will return to his roots to compete in the CRA 100 Late Model event Friday evening, August 1 at Toledo Speedway. The track will also host Kid’s Night, with all kids to age 14 admitted FREE! Each kid also receives a free hot dog, chips and a drink. CRA will also have their “Family Fun Zone” set up in the spectator area.

TOLEDO, OH (8-31-2008)-- Harold Fair Jr., Dennis Whisman and Dave Arnold Jr. captured the 2008 Season Championship titles at Toledo Speedway on a beautiful Sunday evening. Dave Kuhlman took the 100 lap ARCA Allegiant Air Gold Cup Late Model feature race and Fair Jr.’s second place run was enough to snare his 2nd Gold Cup title in a row.

...I-75 Construction in Detroit Forces Alternate Travel Routes to Flat Rock, Toledo
It's now official and in the construction phase-I-75 in both directions is CLOSED in Detroit between Clark Street and Rosa Parks Boulevard for the planned Ambassador Bridge interchange project. It is slated to be closed through Christmas of 2009.

Fair Jr. Zips to Toledo Victory
TOLEDO OH (5-25-2008)-- Harold Fair Jr. powered his way to victory in Sunday night’s ARCA Allegiant Air Glass City Gold Cup Late Model feature at Toledo Speedway. The evening, sponsored by the Toledo area UAW Cap Council, also had Ron Allen score his 100th ARCA win in the ARCA National City Bank Sportsman win, while Adam Roberts took the Michigan Legends Car feature. Bill Daniels, representing the Cap Council, presented the trophies to the winners.

TOLEDO, OH (8-22-2008)-- Jim Froling capped off a great season, with his runner-up finish in the feature sealing the deal for the 2008 ARCA National City Bank Sportsman championship Friday night at Toledo Speedway. Ron Allen won the 50 lap Tim Hortons Season point finale. Feature winners Josh Bunting, Kevin Little, Mike Bershback and Tyler Rycenga also visited the New Glass Bowl Lanes Winner’s Circle. Dennis Stilwell, representing Tim Hortons, presented the trophies to the winners.
...Glass City 200 Undergoes Changes For 2008
TOLEDO, OH (8-25-2008)-- Due to the soft economy, the 20th running of the Miller Lite Glass City 200, set for Saturday, September 20, will see a change for this season. The Late Model invitational, which has been a 200 lap contest, will now become a 150 lap feature race for this year. Ticket prices have been reduced $5 each and pit passes will also see a $5 reduction. A cash purse of over $55,000 is up for grabs for the fall classic at the ½ mile paved oval.
...Sauve Shoots For Unprecedented 4th Glass City Title; Defending Champ Campbell Enters
TOLEDO, OH (9-17-2008)-- 3-time race winner Steve Sauve of Saginaw, MI and defending champ Brian Campbell are the latest entries for the 20th Anniversary of the Miller Lite Glass City 200, set for this Saturday, September 20 at Toledo Speedway. This year’s event has been scaled back to 150 laps, with $5500 to win and $1000 to start being posted for the Late Model portion of the event.
