The Toledo-Lucas County VFW Post 2898 will give away small American flags to the first 250 kids that come through the front gate and will also donate two-3 x 5 flags in the lucky number program giveaway.  The post will also sell poppies for a donation on the night of the event.

“We are very pleased to have both the Blade and Cumulus Radio join us at Toledo Speedway for the “Night of Thrills,” noted Scott Schultz, General Manager of the track.  “This event kicks off the 4th of July holiday weekend in Toledo, and the combination of events we have planned for July 3 is very exciting.  Fireworks, carnival rides, the thrill show and some fun racing events together in 1 show may be the best entertainment in town that weekend.”

The Imperial Stunt Drivers begin their 2008 tour with the Toledo July 3 event and end up in Barbados National stunt driving stars Serge Beaulieu, Steven Sabean, Doug McCarty and the legendary Tonny Petersen headline the Imperial Stunt show event.  The show, based on the popular Thrill shows that toured the county fairs in the 1960’s and 1970’s, returns to Toledo Speedway for the first time in several years.  Stunts such as ramp-to-ramp, side by side stunts, the wall of fire, the 2 wheel lap around the track and much more is planned by the tour, which features the all-new Dodge Chargers.  November 30.

Carnival rides will be available in the track parking lot for much of the day.  Metropolitan Shows of Toledo will be the ride concessionaire.

The racing part of the night, which will take place after the Thrill Show, will include a Factory Stock Figure 8 race, a Figure 8 Train race and the Boat Figure 8 race!  The track’s Factory Stock division will battle in a feature event, while the Train race consists of 2 cars chained together—the front car with the engine, the back car with the brakes!  And the hilarious Boat Figure 8—yes, a boat and trailer towed by a race car, will compete on the Figure 8 track, with the goal to keep your boat on the trailer while crossing at the intersection and avoiding collisions!

The fireworks show, similar to the types conducted at other area sporting events, will follow the conclusion of the race program.

Tickets will go on sale at 5:30 p.m. the day of the event, July 3 at the track ticket office.  The gates will open at 6 p.m. and the show begins at 7:30 p.m.  There is no pre-sale of tickets.  Adults are $12 for this event, children 6-14 are $3 and under 6 are free.  No coolers, cans or bottles are permitted in the grandstand area.  Parking is FREE.  The rain date is Friday, July 4 with the same time schedule in effect.
