Toledo's Fastest Short Track Show not to be Rescheduled.

TOLEDO, OH (6-16-2008)-- Toledo Speedway’s “Fastest Short Track Show in the World”, featuring the ISMA Super Modifieds and Auto Value Super Sprints, which was washed out Friday evening, will not be rescheduled for the 2008 season.  Conflicts in dates for both divisions and the track will keep the event off the books for this year.

“We know we have disappointed many fans, and we, too are very disappointed,” said Scott Schultz, General Manager of the track.  “Saturday (June 14) the Super Mods were at Sandusky and the Sprints had a date at Auto City (Flint, MI).  While the Sandusky show was not ISMA-sanctioned, you now separate the fan base and some race cars also.  This race was built upon having both groups at the track on the same race card.  And Sunday was never an option with Father’s Day and the MIS NASCAR race.”

“The event has been one of the most successful shows on our schedule,” noted Schultz.  “But with the tough economy, high gas prices and no date when both groups could come back, we were pretty much out of options.  We thank both the ISMA and AVSS teams for their great support of this event.  And we thank the fans who have also supported this great race.  It’s a tough call.”

Fans that purchased tickets in advance will receive full refunds.  Fans that purchased their tickets by cash can mail in their tickets with their return address to:  Toledo Speedway, 5639 Benore Road, Toledo, OH  43612.

Tickets purchased by check will receive a check in the mail in the coming days, while tickets purchased by credit card will receive a credit to their account by the end of this week.

Toledo does have one more open wheel event left on the 2008 schedule; Friday, July 18 on Marco’s Pizza Night.  The MSA Super Modifieds will come to town, and will be joined the the track’s weekly Sportsman, Factory Stock and 4 Cylinder classes.  Friday night racing begins at 7:30 p.m.

This Friday (June 20) is Wendy’s Autograph Night!  Fans can walk onto the track and meet their favorite drivers.  The Sportsman, Figure 8’s, Factory Stocks and 4 Cylinders will be in action.  The Autograph session is set for 7 and racing begins at 7:30 p.m.  The track will also host Racing Fan Club Night this Friday evening.
