Flat Rock, MI  (5-1-10)--  7 Up and Corrigan Oil Opening Night at Flat Rock Speedway brought the ¼ mile paved oval back to life for the new season Saturday.  Eric Lee, Billy Earley, Rob Moore, Paul Duffin and David Price claimed the main event wins on an unusually warm evening for the first week of May.  The track also paid tribute to our military personnel with Armed Forces Appreciation Night, hosting both active and retired members as guests of the speedway. ...

(TOLEDO, Ohio - July 29, 2011) - Second-generation driver and Canadian Kyle DeLisle powered his way to victory in the ARCA ACME Dismantling 50 lap Sportsman feature Friday night at Toledo Speedway.  Eric Huston was the winner in the ARCA R & M Recycling Street Stock 35 lap main, while Robbie Loving scored the win in the 20 lap ARCA Parts Galore Figure 8 feature race, all part of the Valvoline Instant Oil Change Summer Racing Series.

 

The Sun Drop Soda/Teamsters Local 20 Kid’s Night brought out a good crowd and a huge throng of youngsters, who were treated to free admission to the track, a free Valvoline T-Shirt and a free hot dog, chips and a drink, courtesy of Sherwood Foods, Seyfert’s Snacks and the Dr. Pepper/Snapple Group.

(FLAT ROCK, Michigan - August 4, 2012) - For the first time since April 28, rain fell on a Saturday at Flat Rock Speedway.  But a great effort by the race teams and track officials kept things moving along and allowed the Glass Unlimited Night to be nearly complete, as the Figure 8 feature was called after 14 of the 20 laps.  Paul Pelletier, Rich Frantz and Billy Earley captured the wins.  Walter Krause of Glass Unlimited presented the trophies and bonus money to the winning trio.

The clouds started to roll in around the 4 p.m. practice start and continued to build as approaching storms just missed the track.  At 6:45, 15 minutes before start time, a heavy 10 minute downpour caused a delay, pushing the race card back to a 7:30 p.m. start.  The race teams were ready and kept the race card moving through the heats and features.

(TOLEDO, Ohio - September 18, 2012) - Recently-crowned ARCA Allegiant Late Model Gold Cup Series champion Dakota Carlson of Cedar Springs, MI has filed his entry for the 24^th running of the Great Lakes Helicopter Glass City 200 Super Late Model invitational Saturday evening, September 29 at Toledo Speedway.  Carlson tuned up for the 200 by winning the 100 lap feature last Saturday night at the Owosso, MI Speedway.

Long time ARCA member Floyd LaLonde, who drove in the ARCA Figure-8 and Street Stock divisions at Flat Rock Speedway, passed away recently at the age of 75. Lalonde finished 3rd in ARCA Street Stock points at Flat Rock in 1978, and after retiring from driving sponsored 1981 and 1983 ARCA Street Stock champion Danny Leppen for many years through his Floyd's Muffler Shop business. FLAT ROCK, MI: (7-10-09): One of NASCAR's young stars will greet race fans Saturday evening, August 15 at Flat Rock Speedway. David Ragan, the driver of the Roush Racing #6 on the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series tour, will greet race fans as part of the Leppen Chiropractic/United Way of Monroe County Autograph Night program. The track will also host a Racer's Reunion for former racers.

Ragan, a native of Unadilla, GA, worked his way up the racing ladder, starting in Legends Cars, moving up to the ARCA RE/MAX Series where he finished 3rd in the final 2005 points. David caught the eye of car owner Jack Roush and began his ascent to the Cup Series, where he now competes. Ragan also is running in the NASCAR Nationwide Series and the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series in 2009.

(FLAT ROCK, MI – July 22, 2013) - Second generation driver Terry Senneker has filed his entry for Saturday's Moran Chevrolet/Stan Yee Memorial 150 at Flat Rock Speedway.  The Wayland, MI driver has been to Flat Rock twice this year, only to have the event rained out.  This will be Terry's first race ever at "The Rock".  The current entry list as of Noon Monday stands at 22 cars. 

A field of over 30 cars is expected for this prestigious race. 4-time track champ and former Memorial winner Eric Lee is also entered. Friday night, July 26 an open practice will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.  The pits open at 4.  All Friday night pit pass purchasers will be treated to dinner, courtesy of DTS Drive Train Specialists!

TOLEDO OH (4-17-10) - An extremely windy and cold day failed to dampen the excitement of Toledo Speedway's opening event for the 2010 season Saturday afternoon.  Jesse Saunders scored his first win in the 125 lap ASA North Late Model Series feature, while Scott Hantz was the victor in the 75 lap ARCA Allegiant Air Gold Cup Late Model main event. ...

(FLAT ROCK, Mich. - June 26, 2010) - Mike Root of Grand Rapids, Mich. came from the 13th spot, took the lead on Lap 83, and powered his way to victory in the Moran Chevrolet/Stan Yee Memorial 150 for the ARCA Allegiant Air Gold Cup Late Models Saturday night at Flat Rock Speedway. Root, the defending Gold Cup champion, was presented the five-foot trophy by Ann Yee and her grandsons and Pat Moran of Moran Chevrolet.

(TOLEDO, Ohio - July 21, 2010) - NASCAR Sprint Cup Series star Kyle Busch will visit Toledo Speedway on Friday, August 13 to sign autographs and meet fans. Busch was previously scheduled to race in the CRA Late Model 100-lap event at the Glass City oval, but those plans have changed due to obligations with his Sprint Cup team.

(TOLEDO, Ohio - September 25, 2010) - Toledo Speedway's "Short Track Wars" event took place Saturday, highlighted by the first-ever road course type event, utilizing parts of the ½ mile, ¼ mile and pit road.  Billy Earley was the winner in the entertaining 15 lap event, with Cory McCaughey, Tyler Rycenga and Rob Roney also claiming feature wins.

Jim Ruttman, the brother of former ARCA and NASCAR driver Joe Ruttman and Indy 500 winner Troy Ruttman, passed away at his Florida home this week.  Jim, a former Michigan resident, competed in the ARCA Mini Stock division in the 1970's at Flat Rock and Toledo Speedways.

(TOLEDO, Ohio - September 2, 2011) - Toledo Speedway kicked off the Labor Day weekend in the Glass City with the Wendy’s Night of Destruction Friday evening.  A very large crowd filled the stands to see the mayhem and entertaining event.  Wendy greeted the fans and the Wendy’s employees and staff provided trinkets for the kids and families throughout the evening.  Wendy then presented the winners their trophies in the Sun Drop Winner’s Circle.  ...

(FLAT ROCK, Michigan - September 17, 2011) - A crisp, clear and cool night greeted a large crowd for the re-scheduled Griller’s Select BBQ Sauce School Bus Figure 8 races Saturday night at Flat Rock Speedway.  The event was delayed by a week due to rain.  The fans were treated to an action-packed night of entertainment.  Billy Earley topped the School Bus race, Dan Ford Jr. won the Street Stock main event, Jeff Metdpenningen scored the 250 lap Enduro win and Brad Turner sealed the 2011 Jeff’s Collision 4 Cylinder title with his win.  Each winner received a case of bbq sauce from Griller’s Select.

Telegraph Road, just north of the city of Flat Rock, is undergoing a complete reconstruction at this time.  1-lane traffic is being maintained at most times of the day, but backups have been occuring.  This is expected to continue for much of the summer.

For those of you traveling Telegraph to Flat Rock Speedway from points north of the track, it is suggested to use I-275 to Will-Carleton Road (exit 8) or I-75 to the Gibraltar Road or Huron River Drive exits (westbound) to Telegraph and then south to the speedway.

**Telegraph Road is also slated to be CLOSED just north of Monroe from Stewart Road to LaSalle Road sometime this summer.  The dates have not yet been confirmed by MDOT.  We will keep you posted!
