Jedreczyk Captures MSA Toledo Win; Terry Gibson Fatally Injured

TOLEDO, OH (7-18-2008)--  Tim Jedreczyk sailed to victory in Friday night’s MSA Super Modified feature on Marco’s Pizza Night at Toledo Speedway.  The warm, sultry evening also saw Ron Allen, Eric Huston, Amanda Bland and Mike Bershback pick up main event wins on their way to the New Glass Bowl Lanes Winner’s Circle.    MSA Super Modified driver Terry Gibson, 46, of LaRue, OH lost his life in a heat race accident Friday evening.  No other details were available at press time. 

The 30 lap main event saw Jack Smith out front early on until “Timmy J” sailed by for the lead and eventually the victory.  DJ Shullick came home with a second place finish, third was Moe Lilje, fourth went to Charlie Schultz and fifth was Tim Ice.  Smith, Randy Burch, Dave Mumaw, Jim Paller and Rob Stasick completed the top ten.  Shullick zipped to a fast lap at 13:567 for the 18 car field. 

 

Lincoln Park, MI driver Ron Allen notch another feature win in the 35 lap ARCA National City Bank Sportsman contest.  Early leader Chad Guinn set the pace from the start until Allen, moving from his 5th starting spot, motored into the lead on his way to victory.  Second was Jim Froling, third was Chad Guinn, fourth was Greg Stilwell and fifth was Art Rozane, followed by Scott Bross, Jeff King, Tom O’Leary IV, Chad Stilwell and Jarod MacZink.  Allen’s fast time for the 18 cars on hand was 17:462.

 

Defending champ Eric Huston took his second win of 2008 by way of his win in the 20 lap ARCA A-1 Auto Parts Factory Stock feature race.  AJ Padgett continued his fine effort with a second place run, third was Josh Bunting, Landon Schuster was fourth and Don Cox fifth with his best run of the season.  Mike Mills, Mike Hassen, Brian Ringger, Dave Arnold Jr. and Gary Cronenwett completed the top ten finishers. 

 

Fan favorite Amanda Bland took the 10 lap B Main, much to the delight of the crowd.  Second place went to Ramon Ortiz, followed by Brian Moore, Tim Shine, Kevin Little, John Rabideau, Art LaFreniere and Mike Hacker.  Arnold Jr. set fast time at 11:853 for the 27 car field.  Brian Ringger, Ortiz and Dave Arnold Sr. notched heat race wins.  Mills took the last-chance race event.

 

Royal Oak, MI resident Mike Bershback made the long trip to Toledo and took top honors in the 20 lap ARCA 4 Cylinder main event of the evening.  Coming from the 9th starting spot, Mike shot into the lead and took David Price with him.  The lead duo stretched their advantage over the rest of the field and finished in that order at the stripe.  Michael Marlow was third, Brad Turner fourth and Jimmy Little fifth, followed by Eric Padgett, Perry Marlow, Mark Davis and Matt Brazeau.  Bershback set fast time at 13:311. 

Toledo Speedway has 2 nights of action next week, with the Live Nation Monster Truck Shows on Friday and Saturday, July 25 and 26.  Show times are at 7:30 both nights.  Tickets are now on sale by calling Ticket Master or at the track.  The gates open at 6 p.m. Friday night and 5 p.m. Saturday night for the pit party.  A special ticket is needed to attend Saturday’s pit party.
