Toledo's Best Holiday Entertainment Value at Toledo Speedway July 3.

Thrill Show-Fireworks-Carnival Rides-Racing On Tap

TOLEDO, OH (6-18-08): Toledo Speedway will kick off the Independence holiday weekend with a special event Thursday evening, July 3. The “Night of Thrills”, featuring the Imperial Stunt Drivers Thrill Show, Fireworks, Carnival rides and racing, will begin at 7:30 p.m. The track will not race on Friday the 4th, but will use the holiday as a rain date for the July 3 show.

The Imperial Stunt Drivers will be making the trip to the Glass City for the July 3 event. The show, based on the popular Thrill shows that toured the county fairs in the 1960’s and 1970’s, returns to Toledo Speedway for the first time in several years. Stunts such as ramp-to-ramp, side by side stunts, the wall of fire, the 2 wheel lap around the track and much more is planned by the tour, which features the all-new Dodge Chargers.

Carnival rides will be available in the track parking lot for much of the day. Metropolitan Shows of Toledo will be the ride concessionaire.

The racing part of the night, which will take place after the Thrill Show, will include a Factory Stock Figure 8 race, a Figure 8 Train race and the Boat Figure 8 race! The track’s Factory Stock division will battle in a feature event, while the Train race consists of 2 cars chained together—the front car with the engine, the back car with the brakes! And the hilarious Boat Figure 8—yes, a boat and trailer towed by a race car, will compete on the Figure 8 track, with the goal to keep your boat on the trailer while crossing at the intersection and avoiding collisions!

The fireworks show, similar to the types conducted at other area sporting events, will follow the conclusion of the race program.

“Toledo Speedway is proud to kick off the 4th of July holiday with a family-fun event at the track on Thursday, July 3,” said Ron Drager, promoter of the speedway. “Where else can you go and see a fireworks display, a thrill show, racing and put the kids on some rides all in one night? We would like to invite everyone that’s planning to stay home for the holiday to start their weekend with us at Toledo Speedway. We’ve got great entertainment, great food and great family fun. And we’re the home of the $1 hot dog and we have FREE parking. The only place you will see this in the city of Toledo is Toledo Speedway. It’s a great bargain for every family.”

Tickets will go on sale at 5:30 p.m. the day of the event, July 3 at the track ticket office. The gates will open at 6 p.m. and the show begins at 7:30 p.m. There is no pre-sale of tickets. Adults are $12 for this event, children 6-14 are $3 and under 6 are free. No coolers, cans or bottles are permitted in the grandstand area. Parking is FREE. The rain date is Friday, July 4 with the same time schedule in effect.

Toledo Speedway is located on Benore Road at the I-75/Alexis Road exit on the Michigan-Ohio border, behind the Meijer store. The track phone number is 419-727-1100.
