ENTRY LIST TAKING SHAPE FOR GREAT LAKES HELICOPTER GLASS CITY 200

(TOLEDO, Ohio - September 11, 2013) - The early entry list for the 25th Anniversary of the Great Lakes Helicopter Glass City 200 presented by Francis Engineering, Woodville Auto Finance, Hampton Inn and Holiday Inn Express is very strong.  The 200 lap outlaw-bodied Late Model invitational is set for Saturday, September 28 at Toledo Speedway.

Joining the entries of Johnny VanDoorn and Dennis Strickland are Nick Bailey, Johnny Belott, Mike Young, Brian Ross, Jake Francis, Michael Simko and 2-time Glass City 200 champion Harold Fair Jr.  The Wisconsin-based car #41 is also entered, with the driver not yet announced.

Ross will be at the wheel of Bobby Blount’s car #16 for the season-ending classic.  Simko joins Francis as a teammate for the Francis Engineering stable, while Bailey and Young are local drivers.  Belott, who runs a limited schedule, has been very strong at Toledo in this event.  Fair Jr. will be looking to put his name in the record books as a 3-time winner of the 200, which would put him in the company of Bob Senneker and Steve Sauve.

Great Lakes Helicopter is entering its fourth season as the title sponsor of this prestigious event. Each of the 30 spots in the race carries additional purse money this season as the track celebrates the Silver Anniversary of the race.  Additional bonus money from Francis Engineering has pushed the

purse to over $50,000 in cash and awards, with $6500 going to the winner.  $1100 has been posted to start the 200 lap race, which will see a 20 minute break at the lap 101 mark.  With prize money and special awards, a driver could walk away with over $9000 in cash and contingency awards.

In addition to the 200 lap Late Model invitational, the Woodville Auto Finance 40 lap Sportsman invitational and a 30 lap X car invitational (on the ¼ mile) are also part of the final race of the season at the Glass City oval.  All 3 entries forms/rules may be downloaded from the track’s webpage.  They are located under forms.

Dale Francis of Francis Engineering has also posted $200 for the Half-Way Leader Award and will once again provide a free dinner for those who buy pit passes at the Friday practice session.  The dinner includes pulled pork, bbq chicken, potatoes, cole slaw and corn on the cob, all courtesy of Francis Engineering.

Woodville Auto Finance will award $500 to the Fast Qualifier for the 200, and will give out a $500 bonus should the fast qualifier win the race.  The Most Improved Position $250 bonus is courtesy of Burge Wrecking of Toledo.  Penske Shocks will award the winner a $250 gift certificate.  Lane Automotive will provide $100 certificates to the 5th and 12th place finishers, while All Star Performance will give $100 awards to the 6th and 10th place drivers.

DTS Drive Train Specialists will serve as sponsor of the B Main event and will award a total of five $50 labor/parts certificates in a random draw.  The 30th place driver will also get a DTS certificate.

In addition to title sponsor Great Lakes Helicopter, presenting sponsors include Francis Engineering, Woodville Auto Finance, Hampton Inn and Holiday Inn Express.  DTS Drive Train Specialists, R & M Recycling, First Care Ambulance, , Burge Wrecking, Penske Shocks, All Star Performance, Lane Automotive, Bazell Race Fuels and Sunoco Race Fuels have also pledged their support for the event.

Lap money is available at $10 per lap, and goes to the leader of each lap.  The list is available on the track’s webpage.  To sponsor laps, please call 419-727-1100.

Friday, September 27 the pit area opens at 2 p.m. for rig parking, tech and tire sales for all 3 classes.  An optional practice session will take place from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.  Anyone that purchases a pit pass on Friday will receive a FREE dinner from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., courtesy of Francis Engineering of Leroy, OH.  The band Distant Cousinz will play after dinner at the Bar/Grille, located adjacent to the speedway.
