1980-BOB SENNEKER SCORES 100-LAP FEATURE

Toledo Speedway held its first extra-distance affair of the season and it was the "Bluebird" Bob Senneker taking the twin 50-lap features in his signature late model #84. Senneker, a frequent Toledo Speedway visitor, has tasted success consistently at Toledo as well as in major high-dollar payout late model races throughout the Midwest US and Canada.

FLAT ROCK, MI: (8-29-09): Stan Yee Jr., Greg Studt, Regan Ford, Troy Brehmer and Brad Turner steered to victories on Glass Unlimited Night at Flat Rock Speedway. Walter Krause of Glass Unlimited presented the trophies and bonus money to the winners in post-race festivities on a very unseasonably cool August evening.

Toledo, Ohio—April 30, 2013:  Tonight’s practice session at Toledo Speedway is now complete, as the speedway and its race teams prepare for the first Friday night race of the new season this Friday, May 3.  The practice was originally scheduled for Sunday, but rain washed the day out.

Both the ½ mile paved oval and the ¼ mile oval got a workout Tuesday night.  Several ARCA ACME Dismantling Sportsman cars took laps, as well as a host of ARCA Late Models, preparing for their first race at Toledo May 10.  An ARCA Truck, Modifieds, ARCA Parts Galore Figure 8’s, ARCA 4 Cylinders and several of the new-division X Cars were at the track preparing for the 2013 season.

This Friday’s race card has the Sportsman, Figure 8’s, the ARCA 4 Cylinders and the R & M Recycling X Cars on the schedule.  The pit area will open at 3:30, practice begins at 5 p.m., time trials are set for 6:15 and racing gets the green flag at 7:30 p.m.  The spectator gates will open at 5.

The second Friday night show on May 10 will see the ARCA Glass City Gold Cup Late Models in town for the Hollywood Casino 100. Drivers from Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Wisconsin and Canada are expected for race number 1 of the 6 race series, which will see 100 laps of green flag racing.  The ARCA Sportsman cars and the X Cars will also be in action.

Parking is free on the grounds of the track.  Toledo Speedway features the best concession prices and entertainment value in the Toledo area every Friday night throughout the summer.

(TOLEDO, Ohio - July 10, 2013) - For the last 4 weeks, Mother Nature has not been kind to the Northern Ohio-Southeast Michigan area.  But there’s good news in store for this Friday, July 12 at Toledo Speedway.  In addition to chatting with the man above, Santa Claus has agreed to make an appearance and has promised good weather for the Parts Galore 100 and the annual Christmas In July prize giveway!

Bob Ward of Romulus, MI passed away last evening after being hospitalized earlier in the week.  Bob was 78 years old.  He was affectionately known as “Grumpy” by all his friends.

A car owner for over 40 years, Bob fielded Late Models for many, many drivers, which carried his # 6.  He was a superb fabricator and worked on race cars out of his shop at his home.  Despite being confined to a wheelchair in the past years, Bob never stopped helping racers and was a fixture at both Flat Rock and Toledo Speedways.

He is survived by his wife, Lela, son Jim and daughters Linda and Elizabeth.  He was preceded in death by another son, Bobby.

Visitation will be held at the Crane Funeral Home, 36885 Goddard Road (734-941-9200) in Romulus on Monday, August 19 from Noon to 8:30 p.m.  Services will be held at the funeral home Tuesday, August 20 at 11 a.m.

The pit area opens at 3, practice begin at 4, front gates open at 4, time trials are at 5:15, the autograph session begins at 6, the TKC go-karts hit the track at 6:50 and racing begins at 7 p.m.

Keith Matthews, age 56, passed away suddenly Tuesday, March 11.  Keith served on the Romulus and Newport Fire Departments for over 20 years. 

Surviving Keith is his son, Tyler.  Tyler resides with his mother, Amy and Tim Moore, Flat Rock Speedway Street Stock driver.  Tyler has been attending the races at Flat Rock for 13 years.

Keith enjoyed hunting and fishing with Tyler.  Visitation will be held Saturday, March 15 from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Girrbach-Krasun Funeral Home, 15748 Fort Street, Southgate, MI.  Services will also be held Saturday at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Tyler and his family.

TOLEDO, OH: (9-25-09): Track officials have announced that the ARCA Speedway Tire and Auto Factory Stock class will be added to the Glass City 200 weekend presented by AP Motorsports. The addition of the division for the Saturday, October 3 event will see practice, qualifying and feature races for the group, with all their action on the ¼ mile paved oval.

TOLEDO, OH: (10-3-09): A hearty, good-sized crowd braved the cold and several rain delays at Toledo Speedway Saturday night for the 21st running of the Glass City 200 Late Model invitational presented by AP Motorsports. Veteran Dave Kuhlman claimed the huge victory after years of frustration in this race, which featured outstanding racing action and a pair of sensational long green flag runs.

Jack Theis, who drove car #336 in ARCA Figure-8 races at Flat Rock Speedway in the 1960s, passed away at the age of 86. A resident of Lewiston Michigan, Theis was the father in law of Bill Litogot Jr. Bill Litogot III is the 2006 ARCA 4-Cylinder division champion and currently competes in the ARCA Late Model division. Funeral services are private.

The jolly old white haired (ok, grey) dog himself has etched his name in the record books January 6 at Glass Bowl Lanes in Toledo, nailing down his first 300 game and a 779 series to boot for the PB Fabrication team.
 
After several hundred years of trying, Gary Lindahl bowled a perfect game!  As of press time, he was still buying rounds at the bar (sure).

(FLAT ROCK, Michigan - August 6, 2011) - A pair of rain showers and the continued threat of more rain didn’t stop Flat Rock Speedway from completing its race card Saturday night.  Chris Bailey Jr. took the 100 lap ARCA Truck Series win, Jeff Metdpenningen was victorious in the 250 lap Enduro race, Brad Turner was the winner of the ARCA Jeff’s Collision 4 Cylinder main and the brother duo of Rayce/Kyle Metdpenningen captured the Figure 8 Train feature event.

(TOLEDO, Ohio - August 31, 2011) - Toledo area business Earsmart, Inc. and The Toledo Blade have pledged their support to assist the Toledo Police Patrolmen’s Association and the Toledo Fire Department in promoting a pre-race ticket sale for the Sunday, September 11 Earsmart Stars and Stripes 100 presented by the Toledo Blade stock car race at Toledo Speedway.  The pre-sale will serve as a fundraiser, with 50% of the pre-race sale proceeds to be donated to the 2 groups.
