Toledo, Ohio—September 24, 2013:  With the Great Lakes Helicopter Glass City 200 just days away, race teams are busy testing and making final preparations for the Silver Anniversary of the prestigious event.  The 200 lap outlaw-bodied Late Model race is being co-sponsored by Francis Engineering, Woodville Auto Finance, Hampton Inn and Holiday Inn Express.  2-time Glass City winner Joe Ruttman (1969, 1973) will be the Grand Marshal for the event.

2012 Glass City winner Terry Senneker put his #37 through its final laps before the weekend.  Terry and several other teams tested at Toledo Monday.  Senneker led just 4 laps, but they were the final 4 as Steve Needles had an engine let go, putting Terry in the Sun Drop Winner’s Circle at the Glass City oval.

2-time Glass City winner Harold Fair Jr. also tested Monday, as did Brian Ross, at the wheel of Bob Blount’s #16.  Ross will be making his first start at Toledo since 1999.  Jeff Ganus, at the wheel of the Great Lakes Helicopter #5, also tested, along with Scott Pemberton in his #51 and Brian Clay in the #30 machine.

This past weekend, Dennis Strickland, Scott McKenzie, Mike Young, Steve Cronenwett Jr., Chris Benson and Jimmy Thiel all shook down their cars for the 200 lap classic.

In addition to the 200 lap feature, the 40 lap Woodville Auto Finance Sportsman invitational and the 30 lap X Car invitational will also be a part of the huge weekend.

John Whisman, 64, passed away Sunday, December 15 after a long illness.  John is the brother of ARCA Flat Rock-Toledo Speedway Figure 8 driver Dennis Whisman and car owner/mechanic Joe Whisman.

John was a fixture at both tracks for much of his life, driving and working on race cars alongside his brothers David, Joe and Dennis.  He was preceded in death by his brother, David. 

Survivors include his brothers Joe and Dennis, and sisters Betty and Teresa; children Dawn, Michelle, Johnny, Amy, Jill and Scott.

Visitation and services will be held at the Voran Funeral Home, 23701 Ford Road (west of Telegraph Road) in Dearborn, MI. Wednesday, December 18 from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m.  A service will take place at 7 p.m.

TO ALL DIVISIONS: In 2010, we will put a major emphasis on decibel limits. The rule is the same, but it will be enforced. We have been lax with this program, but a major emphasis will be applied to this rule in 2010. You will have 1 week to fix your problem; if you are still loud, you will start scratch in all events. If you are still loud on your third time you are at the track, you will not be allowed to compete. THIS APPLIES TO ALL CARS IN ALL DIVISIONS AT BOTH TRACKS. Long time Flat Rock Speedway ARCA Street Stock driver Jim Stocker passed away Wednesday, March 3. Stocker faithfully made the long tow from his home in Clarkston to race weekly at Flat Rock for some 20 years, resulting in two ARCA Street Stock B Main championships and many B Main feature wins at the wheel of his car #46. Stocker had recently been diagnosed with cancer and suffered a fatal heart attack. Per his wishes, there will be no memorial and cremation has taken place.

(TOLEDO, Ohio - August 10, 2010) - The CRA Super Series will make its first of two straight visits to the Buckeye State Friday in the Klotz Synthetic Lubricants 100 Presented by Spray Power at Toledo Speedway. Friday's event will be the 12th CRA Super Series event that has been contested on the fast half-mile ARCA-sanctioned track. NASCAR star and part-time CRA Super Series competitor Kyle Busch will be on hand for Friday's event, but he will not be able to race because of his commitments to his NASCAR Sprint Cup race team. (Toledo, Ohio-April 22, 2011):  The Friday practice session for the JEGS'S/CRA All Star Crate Late Model Series presented by GM Performance Parts at Toledo Speedway has been cancelled due to rain. 

The Saturday, April 23 event has the VR-12/Easter Bunny 100 lap feature race and events for the USA Modifieds will go as planned.  Practice will now start at 11 a.m., time trials go at 4 and racing begins at 6 p.m.

Don't forget--The Easter Bunny will be at Toledo Speedway Saturday, and all children to age 12 will be admitted FREE!  An Easter Egg hunt for the young ones and a nickel/penny goldrush for the older kids will take place at 5 p.m.

Union members can show their ID card at the ticket windows and receive a $5 discount on a full price admission ticket.

Saturday's schedule has practice at 12:30, time trials at 4 and racing at 6 p.m.

Toledo, Ohio—May 13, 2011:  It was just another day in paradise at Toledo Speedway Friday evening as Mother Nature continues to play havoc with the 2011 race schedule.  With the heat races completed and the Buckeye 305 Sprint Car feature on the track, the rains hit the speedway and washed out the Grogan’s Towne Chrysler-Jeep-Dodge-Ram Scout Night.

Toledo, Ohio--May 25, 2011:  Tim Stewart, the son of Flat Rock and Toledo Speedway track chaplain Jerry Stewart, passed away today, Wednesday, May 25.  He was 43 years old.

Tim suffered a massive heart attack last Thursday.  He was transported to Toledo Hospital where he remained until he passed away.  The family wishes to express their thanks to everyone for the prayers and support over the past few days. 

The family will receive friends beginning at Noon Saturday, May 28 at the First Baptist Church, 4827 N. Holland-Sylvania Road.  A memorial service will follow at 12:30 p.m.  A luncheon will take place after the service.  Messages may reach the family at www.NewcomerToledo.com.  Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.

With the delivery of a new shipment of racing fuel at both tracks comes a new price; as expected, a price increase.  Effective June 1, 2011, racing fuel at both tracks will now be $7.50 per gallon (was $7 per gallon). 

Should the next deliveries drop in price, we will, in turn, drop the price.
