Corrigan Oil served as sponsor the night and guests of the track included our military and veterans for Armed Forces Appreciation Night. 1980-JUNIOR HANLEY TAKES TOLEDO OPENER

Canadian Junior Hanley opened the 1980 season at Toledo Speedway by taking the 20-lap late model feature. Hanley, in the Hanley Enterprises Camaro, set a new track record at 16.25, eclipsing John Anderson's previous mark.

Flat Rock, MI (5-30-09)-- It was Saturday night short track racing at its finest---battles for the lead, side by side, paint-swapping, fender banging action all night long. And that’s what occurred at Flat Rock Speedway for the Valvoline Instant Oil Change-sponsored night. Justin Schroeder came out ahead in a wild final 5 laps to win the Late Model event, Randy Cornett returned from a year and a half absence to hold back Randy DeMaggio for the Street Stock win, Lonnie York prevailed in a last-lap 3-wide finish in the B Main, while Jeremy Miller zipped in and out of intersection traffic to grab the Figure 8 victory in front of a large contingent of Scouts on hand for Scout Night and the Autograph Night promotion.

FLAT ROCK, MI: (6-3-09): Flat Rock Speedway's biggest Late Model race of the season, the Moran Chevrolet/Stan Yee Memorial 150, is set for Saturday evening, June 27 at the ¼ mile paved oval. The event will pay $2500 to win and $500 to start the contest, with drivers from Michigan, Ohio, Indiana and Canada expected. The track's Figure 8 and Street Stock classes will also be in competition as support divisions. ...

TOLEDO, OH: (6-5-09): 5-time track champion Ron Allen reversed roles with Terry Jones Friday night at Toledo Speedway, taking the lead on lap 18 on the way to victory in the 35 lap ARCA Sportsman feature on Wendy's Family Fun and Autograph Night. Robbie Loving, Eric Huston and Ramon Ortiz also visited the Glass Bowl Lanes Winner's Circle and were greeted by Wendy for the trophy presentation. ...

TOLEDO, OH: (6-12-09): Toledo Speedway's Fastest Short Track Show in the World jumped up a notch in notoriety Friday evening, as Jason Blonde steamed his way to an incredible lap of 12:744, the new all-time quickest lap at the Glass City oval. He topped Chris Perley, who earlier erased Cameron Dodson's record with a lap of 12:893. A large crowd enjoyed a great night for racing as Russ Wood topped the ISMA Super Modified portion of the event and Jeff Bloom sailed to victory in the Auto Value/Bumper to Bumper Super Sprint (AVSS) feature. The event, sponsored by All American Coach and Qualite Sports Lighting, lived up to its billing as drama and excitement filled the day right from the start of practice.

Some 200 classic cars and hundreds of participants and spectators enjoyed great weather Thursday night at Toledo Speedway for the weekly Placers Car Club car show. Highlighting the evening's activities was the featured performance by Elvis impersonator Bob Rosencrantz. FLAT ROCK, MI: (6-26-09): Two additional entries from the west side of the state of Michigan have arrived for Saturday's 2nd Annual Moran Chevrolet-Stan Yee Memorial 150 to be held at Flat Rock Speedway. Dave Stehouwer and Dave Sensiba are both entered, and with the addition of local Chris Benson and AuGres, MI driver Mike Luberda, the list now stands at 41 cars as of Friday morning.

FLAT ROCK, MI: (6-26-09): Ann Yee, widow of Stan Yee Sr., will serve as the Grand Marshal for the Moran Chevrolet-Stan Yee Memorial 150 Saturday evening at Flat Rock Speedway. A total of 41 Late Models have pre-entered for the 150 lap contest, the biggest race of the season at the track.

Just a reminder the A Main has two (2) 50 lap races in a row and the B Main has two (2) 25 lap races:  July 11 and July 18.

The Street Stocks WILL NOT RUN HEAT RACES JULY 11.

FLAT ROCK, MI: (7-25-09): 2-time defending Gold Cup champion Harold Fair Jr. zipped to the win in the All Sport/Monroe Evening News 100 in the Hantz Group/Allegiant Air Gold Cup Late Model feature Saturday night at Flat Rock Speedway. Many fans went home with prizes handed out by Santa Claus for the annual Christmas in July promotion. Rain fell at the track during qualifying, but a great effort by the race teams and officials resulted in a quick drying process and just a brief delay to the start of the show. ...

Harold Fair Jr., who has had a season full of lousy luck, got his first win of the season in round #4 of the Hantz Group/Allegiant Air Gold Cup race at Flat Rock. Harold led all 100 laps in route to his victory.

Shawn Bershback took the 4 Cylinder main and the duo of Howard Kelley Jr./Tom O'Leary III captured a wild 10 team Figure 8 Train race. The TKC Go-Kart Club also ran several events. ...

TOLEDO, OH: (8-3-09): Toledo Speedway's signature event, the famed Glass City 200 Late Model invitational, set for Saturday night October 3, will return to 200 laps for this season. The race was reduced to 150 laps in 2008. The 21st running of the prestigious race is expected to draw the top outlaw Late Model drivers from Michigan, Ohio, Indiana and Canada.

Thomas "Sonny" Adams, who owned and promoted races at Mt. Clemens Race Track and Toledo Speedway, died Wednesday, August 5 at 2:33 p.m. at a hospital in Florida after suffering a stroke over the weekend. He was 72 years old.

Adams, whose son Tommy Adams drives in the ARCA Lincoln Welders Truck Series, drove in ARCA sanctioned races for John Marcum in the 1960s, sparking his interest in track ownership and promotion. Mt. Clemens Race Track operated under ARCA sanction for several years in the 1970s with Adams and Johnny May promoting the races. Adams purchased Toledo Speedway from Herb Koester in 1978 and sold the track to Ron Drager and Roy Mott in January 1999. Pictured left to right, Johnny May, John Marcum and Sonny Adams in 1973.

Family and friends may visit on Tuesday from 2-8 p.m. in the Sujkowski Funeral Home Northpointe, 114-128 Alexis Road, Toledo. Funeral services will begin Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home and continue with the Funeral Service in Crossroads Community Church at 11 a.m. Interment will take place in Richardson Chapel Cemetery in Lauderdale County, Alabama. Memorial donations may be given to the Toledo Humane Society or Crossroads Community Church in Ottawa Lake, MI.

1970-FAIR TAKES MID-SEASON CHAMPIONSHIP AT TOLEDO

Joy Fair made it two for two, taking the 50-lap ARCA Late Model feature Sunday night at Toledo Speedway on the heels of a win in the 50-lapper Saturday night at Flat Rock Speedway. Joe Ruttman led the Toledo main event from the onset and paced the first 23 tours around the half mile oval until Fair took the point.

FLAT ROCK, MI: (8-6-09): Flat Rock Speedway officials have announced that Grillers Select BBQ Sauce will sponsor the track's School Bus Figure 8 race, set for Saturday evening, September 12. The made-in-Michigan product will also be available for purchase at the track's concession stands for the remainder of the 2009 season.
