TOLEDO, OH: (12-10-09): As winter sweeps its way into the Southeastern Michigan-Northern Ohio area, track officials are busy putting the final elements in place for the 2010 racing schedules for Flat Rock and Toledo Speedways. Toledo opens the new season Saturday, April 17 with a Late Model double-header featuring the ASA North Late Models and the ARCA Gold Cup Series, while Flat Rock jumps into action Saturday, April 24. The full schedules are slated to be released prior to the holidays.

Colin "Butch" Giles, long time sponsor and car owner at Flat Rock and Toledo Speedway, passed away February 20 after a brief illness. For decades, Giles promoted his Giles Auto Body auto collision repair business by sponsoring race teams, race events and special awards to racers at Flat Rock and Toledo. On what would be his final day at the track in October 2009, Giles enjoyed possibly his most successful day at the track at Toledo Speedway's Glass City 200 when Dave Kuhlman won in a Giles Auto Body sponsored car and Ron Allen finished 2nd in a car owned and sponsored by Giles. Giles, 67, made his home in Livonia. He is survived by his sons Henry and Jeff.

FLAT ROCK MI (3-25-10) - For the fourth consecutive season, Moran Chevrolet will serve as the sponsor of the ARCA Late Model class at Flat Rock Speedway. Pat Moran has confirmed the sponsorship at a recent meeting with track officials.

The Moran Automotive Group, which consists of the Moran Chevrolet dealership on Gratiot Avenue in Clinton Township and the Moran Cadillac-GMC outlet in Ft. Flat Rock, Michigan—May 31, 2011:  Entries have been mailed out for the 2011 ARCA Late Model Allegiant Air Glass City Gold Cup Series, a mixture of 5 races between Flat Rock and Toledo Speedways.  The 2 tracks are just 30 miles apart, just a short drive down I-75.  Grand Rapids, MI driver Mike Root is the 2-time defending champ of the series.

 Josh Bunting won his first career Street Stock A division feature of the season. “Finally! Half way through the season I couldn’t figure out the car. Tried a new spring and the car came around. Thanks to my family and crew.”

With his win, Bunting, breaks the streak that Scott Selmi had going of six wins. Selmi has won every feature he’s been in since the end of June (he missed the 100-lapper that Chad Guinn won, but oddly enough Scott’s dad Jim won the B division feature so the Selmi family has won seven consecutive weeks, I never did find out if a family had that many wins in a row, if anyone knows, send me an email.).

Flat Rock, Michigan—September 12, 2011:  Due to the Saturday, September 10 rain-out, Flat Rock Speedway’s Griller Select BBQ Sauce School Bus Figure 8 race has been rescheduled for this Saturday, September 17.  The Street Stocks will also compete, in addition to the ARCA Jeff’s Collision 4 Cylinder Championship race and the 250 lap Enduro event. 

The wives and mechanics race originally scheduled for this Saturday have now been moved to Saturday, October 8, which is the final event of the season at the track.  The Michigan Legends event will not be rescheduled.

The pit area opens at 4 p.m. this Saturday, and the ticket office will also open at 4 p.m.  The front gates open at 4:30, practice begins at 5 and racing starts at 7 p.m. 

Tickets purchased for last Saturday’s show will be honored this Saturday night.  In the event that pre-sale ticket purchasers cannot attend the September 17 event, refunds will be given after this Saturday night’s race by calling the track.

The Thursday night Placer's Car Club Classic Car Shows held at Toledo Speedway have concluded for the 2012 season.

The club met last night and decided to call an end to the events, which are held the first 3 Thursdays of each month.

Details regarding the 2013 car shows will be announced at a later date.

Toledo, Ohio—November 19, 2012:  Judging from the photo, Desi “Tas” Kesler has found a hobby-a hobby that requires precision work and attention to detail.  The former Toledo Speedway racer is now building replicas of Flat Rock and Toledo Speedway race cars to keep himself busy.  Health issues have sidelined Tas from his daily work.

His love for racing directed Tas to the hobby of building model cars.  He has completed several cars already this fall, and, with Christmas right around the corner, his workload is expected to increase.

FLAT ROCK, MI (6-9-2008)-- Flat Rock Speedway’s biggest Late Model race of the season, the Moran Chevrolet/Stan Yee Memorial 150, set for Saturday, June 21 has now taken a step up in purse money. The Yee family and friends have stepped forward to add additional monies to the event. Yee, a hugely successful car owner for over 40 years, passed away May 18, just 2 days shy of his 76^th birthday. His son, Stan Jr., is a weekly competitor in the Late Model division at “The Rock”.
