GREAT LAKES HELICOPTER RETURNS FOR SILVER ANNIVERSARY OF GLASS CITY 200

(TOLEDO, Ohio - February 19, 2013) - Toledo Speedway’s signature event, the famed Glass City 200 Late Model invitational, will mark the Silver Anniversary of the race in 2013, and will carry the Great Lakes Helicopter name as the sponsor for the third consecutive season.  The prestigious event takes place Saturday, September 28 at the lightning-fast ½ mile paved oval.

The Almont, MI-based business has been a huge supporter of outlaw Late Model racing in the Michigan-Ohio-Indiana area the past several years.

“We are very pleased to announce the return of Great Lakes Helicopter as the Glass City 200 sponsor,” stated Ron Drager, owner and promoter of the Glass City oval. Our thanks to John and Melony Lojko for continuing their tremendous support of this event.”

“The race carries such great tradition and notoriety throughout its history, and with the 25th Anniversary of the race this season, we are working to make the Great Lakes Helicopter Glass City 200 better than ever,” added Drager.

The 2012 version of the race lived up to its reputation as second-generation driver Terry Senneker Jr. overcame a near-crash in the late stages of the race and reeled in the ailing machine of Steve Needles with 4 laps to go to score the victory.

An open practice is scheduled for Friday at the track, with more practice, qualifying and racing set for Saturday, September 28. The complete details of the schedule will be announced later this summer.  A Sportsman invitational and an X-Car invitational will also be part of the Great Lakes Helicopter Glass City 200 weekend.
