PELLETIER-JIOVANI-LOVING-FIREWORKS AT FLAT ROCK

(FLAT ROCK, Michigan - July 7, 2012) - Mother Nature finally released her grasp on the Southeastern Michigan area just prior to race time at Flat Rock Speedway Saturday night.  The fans arrived late as a steady, cool breeze arrived to provide a nice evening for the annual Budweiser Level Pebble “KABOOOOM” Night.  Paul Pelletier, Frank Jiovani and Robbie Loving captured feature wins, with the night ending with the fabulous Flat Rock Speedway fireworks display.

Trenton native Paul Pelletier moved from his 7th starting spot and took the lead from Stan Yee Jr. to score his 3rd win of the season in the 50 lap ARCA Moran Chevrolet Late Model feature.  Yee took the point at the start and the field battled with good door to door racing.  On a lap 10 restart, Paul took the high lane and motored by Yee for the lead on the next lap.  Fast qualifier Derek Wiley (11:684) challenged Pelletier, but fell back a bit, giving way to Eric Lee.  Lee got to the bumper of Pelletier just past the lap 30 mark, but Paul pulled away as the laps wound down as he sailed to the win.  Lee was second, Dennis Strickland edged out Wiley and Steve Cronenwett Jr. in a great battle for third, with sixth going to Joe Hawes, followed by Scott Pemberton, Yee Jr.,  Brad Turner and Terry Bogusz.  Pemberton, who tows to the track from St. John, MI won his first heat race at Flat Rock, with Derrick Sheppard grabbed the other heat race victory.

ss_winner_7-7.jpgMore great side by side racing took place in the 25 lap ARCA DTS Drive Train Specialists Street Stock feature.  Kyle Worley held the point for the first 20 laps of the event, but the action was fast and furious behind the leader.  The next 9 cars ran 2 and sometimes 3 wide as they swapped paint battling for position.  Landon Schuster applied the pressure to Worley after a lap 18 restart, with Frank Jiovani looking on the high side as he moved up to challenge for the win.  As Kyle and Schuster locked horns, Frank nosed his machine to the high lane and zipped by Worley for the lead at lap 21 and stayed there to grab the popular win.  Worley took second, Grant Hedges nosed out Schuster for third on the last lap, while Scott Selmi was fifth.  Rob Moore, Rich Frantz, Paul Duffin, Darrell Krause and Clyde McKee completed the top ten finishers.  Frantz posted the Fastime Racing Engines and Parts quick time at 13:524.  Krause, Steve Chartrand and Matt Bunting captured the heat race wins.

f-8_winner_7-7.jpgIt was all Robbie Loving in the 20 lap ARCA Parts Galore Figure 8 feature race, as the veteran grabbed his 3rd win of 2012.  Robbie stayed out front the entire distance, but had to dodge some wild intersection near-misses, the pressure from Greg Studt and a spinning car right in front of the lead duo coming down to the checkered flag.  Coming off the final turn of the Figure 8 track, Scott Apperson looped his machine at the intersection, forcing Loving to slam on the brakes and swerve to miss Scott, which he did and the race win was in the books.  Studt also had to dodge Apperson and kept second, Dennis Whisman got by Jeremy Miller in the final 2 laps to take third, with Miller fourth and Gary Cronenwett fifth, followed by Billy Earley, Sam Hall, Allen Bland Jr., Danny Gaddis and Steve Chartrand.  Cronenwett and Apperson took the heat wins, with Studt setting quick time at 21:050.

Santa Claus is loading his sleigh and will drop in on Flat Rock Speedway next Saturday, July 14 for the annual Christmas in July prize giveaway.  Separate drawings will be held for adults and children for this fun night.  Fans will enter the drawings upon their arrival to the track on race day.

On the track, the ARCA DTS Drive Train Specialists Street Stocks will stage their biggest race of the year in a 100 lap feature event!  The Parts Galore Figure 8 class will also be in action.

The pits will open at 3:30, practice begins at 4:30, time trials are at 5:45 and racing starts at 7 p.m.  The front gates and ticket office will open at 4:30 p.m.
