1970-TOM BOWSHER CLAIMS FIRST EVER ARCA NEW CAR WIN

Tom Bowsher, brother of 3-time ARCA Series champion Jack Bowsher, wheeled his Ford to his career first victory at Toledo Speedway. Bowsherr led a majority of the 100-lap event on the high banked oval and survived a race-long duel with veteran Iggy Katona, who was 2^nd. The race ended under caution, as Ross Smith blew a radiator hose on his Chevy Camaro and slammed into the fourth turn wall.

TOLEDO, OH: (9-18-09): The beautiful weather conditions of the past 2 weeks held up at Toledo Speedway Friday evening for the Wendy's Hamburgers Night of Destruction. TOLEDO, OH: (12-10-09): As winter sweeps its way into the Southeastern Michigan-Northern Ohio area, track officials are busy putting the final elements in place for the 2010 racing schedules for Flat Rock and Toledo Speedways. Toledo opens the new season Saturday, April 17 with a Late Model double-header featuring the ASA North Late Models and the ARCA Gold Cup Series, while Flat Rock jumps into action Saturday, April 24. The full schedules are slated to be released prior to the holidays.

Colin "Butch" Giles, long time sponsor and car owner at Flat Rock and Toledo Speedway, passed away February 20 after a brief illness. For decades, Giles promoted his Giles Auto Body auto collision repair business by sponsoring race teams, race events and special awards to racers at Flat Rock and Toledo. On what would be his final day at the track in October 2009, Giles enjoyed possibly his most successful day at the track at Toledo Speedway's Glass City 200 when Dave Kuhlman won in a Giles Auto Body sponsored car and Ron Allen finished 2nd in a car owned and sponsored by Giles. Giles, 67, made his home in Livonia. He is survived by his sons Henry and Jeff.

Flat Rock, Michigan—June 19, 2013:  As the official celebration of Flat Rock Speedway’s 60^th Anniversary celebration nears, track officials have made the decision to begin the Saturday, July 6 race card 30 minutes earlier.  Race time will be 6:30 p.m. for this night only.

On tap are the Triple 60’s—a total of three-60 lap features.  Each of the track’s weekly classes will compete in 60 lap main events.  The ARCA Moran Chevrolet Late Models, Parts Galore Figure 8’s and DTS Drive Train Specialists Street Stocks will be in action.

The evening will be capped off with the fabulous Flat Rock Speedway fireworks display!

The event is expected to draw a large crowd as fans will be treated to a great night of action-packed, family fun!

The pit area will open at 2 p.m., practice begins at 3, time trials are at 4:30 and the heat races begin at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, July 6.

On another scheduling note, the Michigan Legends car date at Flat Rock that was set for Saturday, September 14, has been moved to Saturday, August 24.  The change was made to accommodate a request by the touring series.

All seating will be general admission for the 60^th Anniversary and Fireworks show.

FLAT ROCK, MI: (7-30-13):  With Mother Nature’s unwanted assistance, Flat Rock Speedway has had to alter its scheduling after several rainouts in the past weeks.  Saturday, August 10, the Joy Fair Memorial and the Stan Yee Memorial will be combined into 1 race, for 150 laps.  Diamond Racing Products and Moran Chevrolet will sponsor the biggest race of the season.

“We have simply run out of dates,” noted Ron Drager, owner-promoter of the track.  “After 2 postponements of the Joy Fair Memorial and now the rainout of the Stan Yee Memorial last Saturday, our options have dwindled,” added Drager.  “We will now honor the memory of Joy Fair and Stan Yee for the August 10 race, which will be 150 laps.”

The pit pass prices and front gate prices will remain the same as they were for the 150 lap event that was scheduled for July 27.  The event will pay $2533 to win and $533 to start the contest, with over 30 drivers from Michigan, Ohio, Indiana and Canada expected.  The lap money will rise to $10 per lap, as the laps have sponsors for each of the 2 races.  That will now be combined to move the amount to $10 per lap.  In addition, several laps have additional bonus money attached.

Diamond Racing Products has posted $333 for fast time, in honor of Yee’s famous car number, #33.

(TOLEDO, Ohio - October 2, 2010) Scott Hantz set the pace during the final practice session for the 22nd Running of the Great Lakes Helicopters Glass City 200, presented by Cherry Picked Auto Parts this afternoon at Toledo Speedway.

Hantz, in the EMF #72, turned a fast lap of 14.866 s seconds, for an average speed of 121,082 mph. Hantz, the Pleasant Lake, IN veteran, has dominated in his appearances at Toledo, winning two of the three Gold Cup Late Model events at the high-banked half mile this summer.

(TOLEDO, Ohio - August 12, 2011) - Indiana native Scott Hantz nosed out Harold Fair Jr. to win the Grogan’s Towne Chrysler-Jeep-Dodge-Ram 100 for the ARCA Allegiant Glass City Gold Cup Late Model Series Friday night at Toledo Speedway. 

A field of 21 cars showed for leg number 4 of the 5 races series.  Hantz started the night off by setting the Fastime Racing Engines and Parts fast time with a lap of 15:129.  Scott rolled a 4 for the inversion for the 100 lap contest, putting July race winner JR Roahrig on the pole, with youngster Nick Grodi on the outside.  Several cars experienced mechanical problems right from the start of practice for the race, and that continued for several drivers in the feature event.

With the severe storm that moved in on Flat Rock Speedway Saturday night, a few details have now been taken care of in regard to the lucky number program prize winners (including the MIS tickets) and the Flat Rock Band Boosters 50/50 raffle tickets.

The 50/50 raffle tickets purchased Saturday, August 13 will roll over to the August 20 drawing at the track.  Refunds for raffle tickets purchased will be given if desired.  Fans just need to bring their 50/50 stubs with them the next time they arrive at the speedway when they redeem their rain checks.
