ARCA ALLEGIANT GOLD CUP, MAIN EVENT SERIES JOIN FORCES FOR MILLER LITE 100 AUG. 17 AT TOLEDO

(TOLEDO, Ohio - August 1, 2012) - Two of the Midwest’s Outlaw Late Model Series, the ARCA Allegiant Gold Cup and the Main Event Racing Series, will join forces for the Miller Lite 100 Friday evening, August 17 at Toledo Speedway.

The 2 groups have been working together this season with the basic Late Model Alliance body measurement package in effect.  Toledo’s tire rule, the F45 left side Hoosier Racing Tire, and the F56 right side Hoosier Racing Tire has been selected as the tires for this event.  Drivers will receive points for both series per each series rules. 

Several drivers have competed in both series during the 2012 season.  A field of 25-30 cars is expected for the Toledo race, which pays $2500 to win and $500 to start the 100 lap feature race.

The Miller Lite 100 will also serve as the Late Model division’s final tune-up for the 24th running of the Great Lakes Helicopters Glass City 200, set for Saturday, September 29.

tol070612_367_2.jpgThe August 17 date will determine the ARCA Allegiant Gold Cup Late Model champion.  The event is the 6th and final race of the Series.  Dakota Carlson of Cedar Springs, MI is the leader heading into the final contest.  Carlson has a 25 point lead over Mike Root, the winner of the July 28 Moran Chevrolet Stan Yee Memorial 150 at Flat Rock Speedway.  Harold Fair Jr. trails by 50 markers, while Dennis Strickland and Craig Everage complete the top 5 in the current points. 

The top 3 in the final points will receive 2 round trip airline tickets, courtesy of Allegiant Travel.  The champion will also receive a test in an ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards stock car at the annual ARCA test in December at Daytona International Speedway, courtesy of Fast Track Driving School and Andy Hillenburg.

Terry Senneker (Toledo), Mike Luberda Jr.(Spartan, MI Speedway), Harold Fair Jr.(Flat Rock and Toledo) and Root (Flat Rock) have claimed ARCA Allegiant Gold Cup wins.

The Main Event Series date at Toledo is leg number 10 of 12 events on their 2012 schedule.  Bud Perry is the current leader after 7 races, and is trailed by Jack Varney Jr., Harold Fair Jr., Marcus Malcuit and Scott Drake.  2012 race winners on the Main Event Series include Justin Schroeder (Sandusky), Perry (Columbus), Fair (Shady Bowl), Rich Rohrer (Midvale), Don Harvey (Barberton), Root (Dixie, MI Speedway) and Scott Baker (Sandusky).  The Series has 2 stops before the Toledo event; August 4 at Shady Bowl, OH Speedway and August 11 at Auto City, MI Speedway.

Toledo’s ARCA R & M Recycling Street Stocks and the ARCA 4 Cylinders will also be in action for the Miller Lite 100 Night of racing.

The pit area will open at 2 p.m., practice begins at 4:30, time trials are at 6:30 and racing begins at 7:30 p.m.
