MATT RINGGER CAPTURES FIRST WIN IN FLAT ROCK ENDURO 250

(FLAT ROCK, Michigan - July 21, 2012) - For the first time in a month, the temperature at race time at
Flat Rock Speedway was below 90 degrees.  And, for the first time in his career, Matt Ringger entered the record books by scoring the big win and a $1000 payday, grabbing the checkered flag in the 250 lap Enduro Saturday night. The team of Rayce Metdepenningen and his brother, Kyle, took the Figure 8 Train race while their uncle, Chris Metdepenningen was the victor in the ARCA 4 Cylinder main event.  A good crowd turned out for a great night of racing at “The Rock”.

250 laps usually provides some twists and change in momentum in the Enduro race.  Saturday night’s race did just that.  Rick McColl led for much of the event, while Danny Bennett, Matt Ringger, Robb Remick, Derrick Sheppard and the Metdepenningen brothers Rayce and Kyle (doing double duty) challenged early.  Bennett pitted while running second with less than 50 laps to go.  A red flag at lap 214 came out when Canadian Tony Rumble lost a wheel, stopping the field.  When the race went back to green flag, McColl’s car would not start, as he went pit-side with a push from the jam truck.  Ringger picked up the lead and sailed to his first-ever Flat Rock Enduro win over Rayce M., Sheppard, Dave Bennett, Ed Case, Bob Swanson, Chris Kamlay, Tom Sprotberry, Rick Bennett and Bobby Hugo.  27 cars took the green flag.  The Enduro championship event, a 300 lap contest, is set for Saturday, September 8.

4_cyl_winner_7-21.jpgThe ARCA 4 Cylinder class now has its 3rd winner in 3 events this season, as another Metdepenningen, Chris, took the win in the 25 lap contest.  Only 1 yellow flag slowed the event.  Chris, the fast qualifier (14:516) moved up steadily from his 8th starting spot and zoomed away to the win over Ray McClure, Brad Turner, David Katafiasz, David Price, Katie Coseo, Megan Osenbaugh and Jeff Wells.

Flat Rock Speedway now prepares for the biggest race of the season, the Moran Chevrolet/Stan Yee Memorial 150, set for next Saturday, July 28.  The ARCA Moran Chevrolet Late Models will run a big 150 lap feature, and a field of over 30 machines is expected.  The race is leg number 5 of the ARCA Allegiant Gold Cup Series.  The track’s Parts Galore Figure 8’s and DTS Drive Train Specialists Street Stocks will also be in action with features only July 28.  A purse of over $25,000 is posted for Saturday night’s event.

The pit area will open at 1 p.m., practice begins at 3, time trials are at 5 and racing begins at 7 p.m.  Tickets will go on sale at 4:30 p.m. race day at the track.  Fans may purchase their tickets online at www.flatrockspeedway.com.
