Jackson wins ARCA Truck opener at Flat Rock
(FLAT ROCK, Mich.) - The rain, clouds and blistering winds didn't stop Danny Jackson from winning the ARCA Truck Series Safety Kleen 100 Saturday night at Flat Rock Speedway.
...REMICK TAKES FLAT ROCK ENDURO 250
(FLAT ROCK, Michigan - May 18, 2013) - Robb Remick clinched the 250 lap Enduro and the $1000 first place dough Saturday night at Flat Rock Speedway in front of the largest crowd of the season on UAW Local 3000 and Scout Night. Robb’s win was his first after many years of competition at the track in the Enduro events. It was a memorable night for MCR Dwarf Car driver Stephen Bobek as he captured the 25 lap feature, pulled into the Sun Drop victory lane a single man, but after proposing to his girlfriend, he will now be driving straight to the wedding chapel!

RE: June 29, 2013 Enduro race

The Sportsman tires are available at the track. Tires sales during the week are held on Thursdays only from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. There is no mounting of tires on Thursday.
Tires are also available on any race day at Flat Rock, with mounting available.
The tire program for the August 3 race will be discussed at the June 29 drivers meeting.

Re: Hoosier Sportsman tire
May 28, 2013
Effective immediately, the Hoosier Sportsman tire will be legal for competition for the remainder of the 2013 season. No mixing of compounds will be permitted (all 4 tires must be of same compound—4 Hoosier Sportsman 26.5, 27.5 sizes or 4-Hoosier 880’s-26.5, 27.5 sizes).
The original plan was to stop allowing the Sportsman tires for competition June 1, but we will now permit them for the 4 classes listed above for the remainder of the 2013 season.
There is a limited supply of Hoosier Sportsman tires still available at the tracks.
All tires must be purchased from ARCA and will be checked through the scanner system.

...Trackside Tidbits by Debi Domby
My family and I want to thank everyone for all the thoughts and prayers for my family after the passing of my father on May 5th, it was and is appreciated. Because of this, my article has some older tidbits. I love hearing news from the teams, my email is at the end of the article.
April 28, Flat Rock
Opening night and a great field of Super Late Models (21) and Street Stocks (26). The Figure 8’s were showing off their new body style, looking like USA Modifieds with their wings on top, it was a short field, only 9, but not everyone was ready for opening night.
...FORECAST IS WRONG----FLAT ROCK COMPLETES SATURDAY SHOW!
(FLAT ROCK, Michigan - June 1, 2013) - Well, the forecast for rain was at 80%, pretty much a sure bet for a Saturday washout. With no rain falling, the decision was made to go ahead with the Glass Unlimited Autograph Night at Flat Rock Speedway. Albeit a few sprinkles, the show was completed and Eric Lee, Tadek Stadniczuk, Dennis Whisman and David Price captured the feature wins. Walter Krause of Glass Unlimited presented the trophies in the Sun Drop Winner’s Circle. A fabulous rendition of both the Canadian and National Anthems by the Barbershop Quartet “The Party” kicked off the Saturday night action.

NESTER-DeLISLE JR.-O’LEARY TOP TOLEDO MEIJER NIGHT AT THE RACES ACTION
(TOLEDO, Ohio - August 2, 2013) - An early afternoon rain stopped just before the pit area opened, allowing for Toledo Speedway’s Meijer Night at the Races to take place. Brian Nester took the Top Speed Modified Tour race, while Kyle DeLisle Jr. was the victor in the ARCA ACME Dismantling Sportsman feature. Tommy O’Leary captured the Road Course race as all 3 winners visited the Sun Drop Winner’s Circle.
The Top Speed Modified Tour made their initial stop at Toledo, with Brian Nester claiming the win in the 40 lap main event. The first 13 laps saw the trio of leader Jonathan Martin, Nester and Trevor Berry run under a blanket. They diced back and forth until Berry had an engine let go, bringing out the yellow flag on lap 13. On the restart, Martin looped his machine, giving Nester the point and Brian took off as the race went green the rest of the way. Nester took the win as he sailed to victory over Tim Burkett, Josh Weyher, Damon Breedlove, Greg Fuller, Dave Christiansen, Brad Wyatt, Martin, Mark Bott, Norm Taylor, Kenny Phillips, Ralph Baxter, Tommy O’Leary, Berry and Jim Resnew. Berry set fast time at 16:689 for the 15 car field and won the fast heat. Weyher captured the other heat win.
LaSalle, Ontario driver Kyle DeLisle picked up victory number 2 of the season, scoring the win in the 35 lap ARCA ACME Dismantling Sportsman feature. Ron Allen led the first 8 laps until Howard Kelley Jr. motored by on the outside for the lead on lap 9. On lap 11, the yellow appeared when Greg Stilwell and Kent McCloskey tangled. Allen dropped out with a flat tire at that point and on the restart, DeLisle, running second, got to the front and took control of the race, which went green for the final 24 laps. DeLisle withstood Kelley’s charge to take the win, with Mike Young third, Jim Froling fourth and Norm Lewallen fifth, followed by Kenny McKay Jr., Andy Harding, Jeff Myers Jr., David Frantz, Dan Grigsby, Rich Abel, Allen, Stilwell and McCloskey. Allen and McKay Jr. were the heat race winners, as McKay Jr. nipped Myers Jr. by inches to win that heat race. Young set fast time at 17:386 for the 14 car field.

SENNEKER MAKES IT 2 IN ROW IN 1971 GLASS CITY 200; CONTROVERSY MARKS THE DAY!
In 1968, Toledo Speedway promoter and ARCA founder John Marcum came up with the idea of running a 200 lap Late Model invitational—the Glass City 200. Despite a 20-year hiatus of the race from 1978-1998 (when the Toledo track was sold), the race was revived in 1999 when Marcum’s grandson, Ron Drager, purchased the track with business partner Roy Mott.
And the race still carries the prestige and notoriety that it once did back in the 1960’s and 1970’s.
Today, we look at 1971…a great field of cars and a big controversy highlighted the event, but did not keep Bob Senneker from making it 2 wins in a row at the 200…….as he posed with the trophy.

...SCHUSTER-ALLEN-MARLOW-O’LEARY NOTCH TOLEDO WINS
(TOLEDO, Ohio - June 24, 2011) - The rains disappeared, the track dried and Toledo Speedway was able to complete its Qualite Sports Lighting Night of racing Friday. Landon Schuster, Ron Allen, Michael Marlow and Tom O’Leary IV captured victories. Bill Smith and Nick Page of Qualite presented the trophies in victory lane ceremonies.
The track also hosted its annual Fan Club Night. The Michigan Auto Racing Fan Club presented Sportsman driver Kenny McKay Jr. with a helmet bag, while the Dayton Auto Racing Fan Club and its president, Rick Monroe, presented shirts to the feature winners. The race was number 4 of the 10 race Valvoline Instant Oil Change Summer Racing Series being held at the speedway this summer.
...Flat Rock, Toledo Drivers Honor Troops
Pat Gyori sent an email to Flat Rock and Toledo Speedway regarding the recently-deployed unit from Fraser, Michigan that was sent to Afghanistan. Pat simply said that his son-in-law, who is part of the group, mentioned in their letters to home that one of the things that many of the members missed was going to the races at the 2 tracks with their families.
Mr. Gyori asked if there was something the tracks could do to recognize these men and women. And, as you can see in the photos, the drivers at Flat Rock and Toledo Speedways proudly displayed their support of these individuals who allow us to enjoy the freedoms we have here in the United States.
To all of our troops, THANK YOU on behalf of the drivers, crew members, fans and officials…as the banner says..THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!
