Strong Turnout at Wednesday Flat Rock Speedway Open Practice
FLAT ROCK, Michigan (June 24, 2009)--A strong Late Model turnout preparing for this weekend's Moran Chevrolet/Stan Yee Memorial 150 at Flat Rock Speedway drew entrants from throughout Michigan and Northwest Ohio, expanding the entry list for Saturday's event well beyond the 24-car starting field. Among the ARCA Late Model Drivers testing Wednesday were Ricky Kargel, Jeff Bailey, Keith Nelson, Justin Schroeder, Eric Lee, Harold Fair Sr., Tom O'Leary IV, Bob Mikolajczyk, Stevie Cronenwett, Steve Peters, Stan Yee Jr., Chad Finley, Donald Burkhart, Joe Hawes, Chris Burkhart, Jason Burkhart, Ron Allen, Harold Fair Jr., Dennis Strickland, Royce Cornett, Brian Norton, Dan Trosen, Rick Sheppard, Kevin Butzin, Steve Cronenwett, Jeremy Vanderhoof, Roger Blackstock, Dave Stehouwer and Kenny Matthews.

Other divisions of cars were also on hand including ARCA Figure-8s, ARCA 4-Cylinders, ARCA Street Stocks, ARCA Factory Stocks/Enduro Cars, Dwarf Cars and Legends. A majority of the race teams in attendance, however, represented Late Model Teams preparing for Saturday's Moran Chevrolet/Stan Yee Memorial 150 Hantz Group/Allegiant Air Late Model race. In all, 29 Late Models participated in the Open Practice Session.

Chad Finley, who made his ARCA RE/MAX Series debut at Toledo Speedway in May, recording a sixth-place finish for Brad Keselowski Racing, was on hand with his grandfather Bob Finley and father Jeff Finley, a former ARCA RE/MAX Series winner. The team will again make the trek from Lansing to Flat Rock for Saturday's 150.

2008 Moran Chevrolet/Stan Yee Memorial 150 winner Justin Schroeder will defend his title fresh off a stirring win over Eric Lee and Steve Cronenwett Jr. in the most recent Late Model action at Flat Rock.

Cronenwett Jr. and his father Steve have never raced against one another in ARCA Late Model Competition. Both drivers have ARCA Late Model feature wins at Flat Rock and both will attempt to qualify for Saturday's 24-car starting field.

Former ARCA Mini Stock Champion Craig Jackson and Flat Rock ARCA Late Model Champion Buddy Bennett were interested spectators at Wednesday's practice. Numerous other Legends of ARCA Late Model Racing are expected for Saturday's race, including Danny Byrd, Joy Fair, Harold Cook, Artie Summers and Chuck Roumell. Many of those drivers, plus Steve Lee and Stan Yee Jr, formerly drove the trademark yellow No. 33 Chinese Chariots made famous by car owner Stan Yee Sr for whom the memorial race is named.

All tickets for the event are general admission and are available beginning at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 27. The pit area opens at 1, practice begins at 3, time trials are set for 5 and racing begins at 7 p.m. The entry list will be updated Thursday morning.
