Toledo Speedway Preferred Hotel Program Established for 2009
TOLEDO, OH: (4-13-09): A trio of local hotels have partnered up with Toledo Speedway to create the "Preferred Hotel" program for race fans and teams that visit the Toledo area during the 2009 racing season. They are the Fairfield Inn and Suites by Marriot on Benore Road; the Comfort Inn North on Alexis Road and the Ramada Inn, formerly the Clarion Inn, located at Secor Road and I-475.

FLAT ROCK, MI: (5-2-09): Week number 2 of the 2009 racing season at Flat Rock Speedway maintained a level of great competition in all 3 classes. Corrigan Oil served as sponsor the night and guests of the track included our military and veterans for Armed Forces Appreciation Night. Steve Cronenwett Jr., Robbie Loving, Randy DeMaggio and James Rae took feature wins on a cool and windy evening.

Charles Orns, the father of Toledo Speedway photographer Charlie Orns, passed away May 2 at age 65. His birthday was May 3. Mr. Orns and his wife, Peggy, assisted Charlie at the track by selling photos for their son.

TOLEDO, OH (5-8-09)-- A pleasant day turned into a cloudy and eventually a rainy evening at Toledo Speedway for the first Friday night show of the season. A good crowd sat through the rain that began just after qualifying at 7 p.m. The BCSN/Tim Hortons/Toledo Blade season opener started 20 minutes late and was pushed along as quickly as possible.

Gibson Sails to Emotional Toledo Win
TOLEDO, OH (5-15-09)-- With the thoughts of his uncle Terry Gibson riding along with him, Zach Gibson put on a show for the fans Friday night at Toledo Speedway. Zach powered his way to the win in the 30 lap Buckeye 305 Super Sprint feature Friday night on Western Lake Erie Insulation Industry-Local 45 Night in front of a good crowd, despite another Friday night of rain and threatening weather. The show was halted for about 20 minutes while the track dried, but the rain held off long enough to complete the race card. All kids to age 14 were admitted free and received a free hot dog, chips and a drink, courtesy of Sherwood Foods, Seyfert’s Potato chips and the Dr. Pepper/Snapple Group.

1980-JUNIOR HANLEY TAKES TOLEDO OPENER
Canadian Junior Hanley opened the 1980 season at Toledo Speedway by taking the 20-lap late model feature. Hanley, in the Hanley Enterprises Camaro, set a new track record at 16.25, eclipsing John Anderson's previous mark.

Flat Rock, MI (5-23-09)-- The weather finally cooperated on a Saturday night in Flat Rock, MI, and the fans responded as a good crowd made the trip to Flat Rock Speedway for a great night of racing, capped off with a fantastic fireworks display. Danny Jackson took top honors for the ARCA Lincoln Welders Truck Series, Mike Bershback won the ARCA 4 Cylinder feature and Tristan Dupuis cruised to the win in the 250 lap Enduro race. Over 600 kids were on hand for the Kids Night, which featured free admission for children to age 14 and a complimentary hot dog, chips and a drink, courtesy of Sherwood Foods, Seyfert’s Potato Chips and the Dr. Pepper/Snapple Group of Toledo.

TOLEDO, OH (5-22-09)-- Pleasant Lake, IN driver Scott Hantz zipped into the lead on lap 44 and sailed to victory in the Big Red Crème Soda 100 for the ARCA Hantz Group/Allegiant Air Glass City Gold Cup Late Model Series Friday evening at Toledo Speedway. Gladys Cothern and Steve Harsh, representing Big Red, presented the Gold Cup to Scott in the Glass Bowl Lanes Winner’s Circle.

Toledo Speedway held it's first Gold Cup race of the season. Scott Hantz swept the night turning the fast time for the event and taking home the win. It was his first ARCA Super Late Model victory in five years and his second career Gold Cup event.

John Anderson, a graduate of the ARCA Figure-8 ranks, is experiencing a breakout season in the ARCA Late Model division. The young Anderson defeated perennial track champion Joy Fair in the 50-lap ARCA Late Model feature at the Toledo Speedway.

Flat Rock, MI (5-30-09)-- It was Saturday night short track racing at its finest---battles for the lead, side by side, paint-swapping, fender banging action all night long. And that’s what occurred at Flat Rock Speedway for the Valvoline Instant Oil Change-sponsored night. Justin Schroeder came out ahead in a wild final 5 laps to win the Late Model event, Randy Cornett returned from a year and a half absence to hold back Randy DeMaggio for the Street Stock win, Lonnie York prevailed in a last-lap 3-wide finish in the B Main, while Jeremy Miller zipped in and out of intersection traffic to grab the Figure 8 victory in front of a large contingent of Scouts on hand for Scout Night and the Autograph Night promotion.
