Toledo Speedway 50th Anniversary: A Look Back at 1980

1980-JUNIOR HANLEY TAKES TOLEDO OPENER

Canadian Junior Hanley opened the 1980 season at Toledo Speedway by taking the 20-lap late model feature. Hanley, in the Hanley Enterprises Camaro, set a new track record at 16.25, eclipsing John Anderson's previous mark.

Hanley also captured the pursuit with Dave Simko taking the 4-car dash and heat wins going to Marvin Gore and Wayne Monk.

Ron Valke owned the Sport Stock division, taking the dash, pursuit and feature event over Denny Durecki and Greg Freed. The Street Stocks put on a wild show as Mike Barnhart was victorious in the 12-lap crashed filled feature.
