1970-JOHN ANDERSON EARNS HARD FOUGHT WIN

John Anderson, a graduate of the ARCA Figure-8 ranks, is experiencing a breakout season in the ARCA Late Model division. The young Anderson defeated perennial track champion Joy Fair in the 50-lap ARCA Late Model feature at the Toledo Speedway.

Anderson, driving the Jack and Denny McNutt Chevelle #0, took the lead away from Mel Gillette on lap 5 and withstood the constant challenges from Fair for the remainder of the event. Fran Harden was 3rd, just ahead of Jerry Makara. Anderson paced the 27-car field with a qualifying lap of 18.36 seconds. Harden captured the dash with Fair nosing out Anderson in the pursuit. Artie Sommers and John Riddle were heat winners. Ross Dristy bested Lubie Allen and Bud Howell in the 15-lap ARCA Figure-8 feature.
