Flat Rock Ready to Roll for 7-Up Opener April 25

Flat Rock, MI  (4-18-09)--  Sunshine and crystal clear skies graced Flat Rock Speedway Saturday afternoon as 63 teams ventured to “The Rock” for an open practice session in preparation for the 2009 7-Up Season Opener Saturday, April 25.

With temperatures in the mid-70’s, the track was extremely busy with a variety of race cars on hand for the day.  All the 2008 track champs were on hand to go through technical inspection and take practice laps on the ¼ mile paved oval and Figure 8 track.  Eric Lee (Late Model), Dennis Whisman (Figure 8), Dan Ford Jr. (Street Stock), Rich Abel (Street Stock B Main) and Brad Turner (4 Cylinder) are preparing to defend their titles as the new season is less than a week away.

Race teams will have one more opportunity to check things out with their machines and that practice session is set for Wednesday, April 22 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.  The pit area opens at 4 p.m.  Tech inspection, tire and fuel sales will also take place.  In the event of rain, tech and sales will continue until no cars are in line at the tech garage.

The 56th consecutive season of racing at Flat Rock Speedway begins Saturday, April 25.  The ARCA Moran Chevrolet-Miller Lite Late Models, Figure 8’s and Street Stocks are on the race card for the 7-Up season opener.  Several minor changes have been made for 2009, including adding back in heat races for each class.  For the past 2 years, the divisions alternated running heat races for most of the race cards.

Season tickets ($225) and the $25 gift cards are now on sale, along with reserved seating for the pair of School Bus Figure 8 races, set for Saturday, June 13 and Saturday, September 12.  The order form may be downloaded from the track’s website at www.flatrockspeedway.com or fans may call the track office at 734-782-2480.  Visa and Mastercard are accepted for phone orders.

Some signage and sponsorship opportunities still remain for the new season, in addition to sponsorship of 4 School buses for the June 13 event.  Please call the speedway for details.

The Saturday, April 25 timetable will see the pit area opening at 1 p.m.  Practice begins at 3, with the front gates opening also at that time.  Time trials are set for 5 and racing begins at 7 p.m.  Adults are just $11 each, children 6-14 are $3 and under 6 are free.

The track is located on Telegraph Road, just 5 minutes from I-75 or I-275
