PHIL BOZELL CAPTURES JOY FAIR MEMORIAL-STAN YEE MEMORIAL 150
(FLAT
ROCK, Michigan - August 10, 2013) - Phil
Bozell, making his first-ever start at Flat Rock Speedway, nosed by Harold Fair
Jr. with 10 laps to go, setting up another incredible finish as 4 cars
resembling a 4 car dash battled to the wire in the Joy Fair Memorial-Stan Yee
Memorial 150, sponsored by Moran Chevrolet and Diamond Racing Products. Bozell had enough to nip Terry
Senneker, Fair Jr. and Dennis Strickland to win the event, which saw the first
83 laps run without a yellow flag.
As was the case in the 2012 edition of this race, which saw Mike Root pass 2 cars on the high side in the closing laps, this story cannot properly describe this 150 lap classic. It’s very simple—ask anyone that witnessed this race, which was leg number 5 of the Glass City Gold Cup Series.
Members of the Fair and Yee family presented the Gold Cups and trophy to Phil in the Sun Drop Winners Circle. A large crowd turned out to fill the Joy Fair Grandstand and witnessed tremendous competition, as 42 cars were on hand for the prestigious race, which has become one of the “can’t miss” Late Model races in the area.
The Fair Memorial, which was originally scheduled for 100
laps, was rained out June 22 and again July 6.
The Yee Memorial fell victim to rain July 27, and with the 2013 schedule
winding down, the 2 Memorial events were reset and combined into 1 race for
Saturday, honoring Joy Fair and Stan Yee Sr.

MOORE-METDEPENNINGEN-PRICE NOTCH FLAT ROCK WINS
(FLAT ROCK, Michigan - August 3, 2013) - Sunshine and clear skies finally returned to Flat Rock Speedway for a Saturday night of racing, featuring a last-lap pass by Rob Moore for the win and a great battle to the finish in the 250 lap Enduro race, with Rayce Metdepennigen awarded the win. David Price grabbed the 4 Cylinder win. All 3 drivers took their cars to the Sun Drop Victory Lane.
The 25 lap ARCA DTS Street Stock feature race was accident-filled, including a complete restart of the race when front row starters Clyde McKee and Corey Duane tangled, collecting Tim Moore and a host of other cars. When the race went back to green flag, McKee darted out front with the lead. Through several yellow flags, Clyde kept the point but with 2 laps to go, the yellow appeared again, bunching the field for another double-file restart. After a couple of tries, the green was displayed. Rob Moore was in second spot and as the cars came to the white flag, McKee slid up the track, Moore slid back under and nosed into the lead as the checkered flag appeared, giving Moore the edge for the exciting victory. Kyle Worley was also able to get by McKee at the stripe to take second, McKee was third, Landon Schuster fourth and Craig Lange fifth, followed by Guy Fire, Danny Bennett, Steve Searles, Scot Bunge and Scott Selmi....
NESTER-DeLISLE JR.-O’LEARY TOP TOLEDO MEIJER NIGHT AT THE RACES ACTION
(TOLEDO, Ohio - August 2, 2013) - An early afternoon rain stopped just before the pit area opened, allowing for Toledo Speedway’s Meijer Night at the Races to take place. Brian Nester took the Top Speed Modified Tour race, while Kyle DeLisle Jr. was the victor in the ARCA ACME Dismantling Sportsman feature. Tommy O’Leary captured the Road Course race as all 3 winners visited the Sun Drop Winner’s Circle.
The Top Speed Modified Tour made their initial stop at Toledo, with Brian Nester claiming the win in the 40 lap main event. The first 13 laps saw the trio of leader Jonathan Martin, Nester and Trevor Berry run under a blanket. They diced back and forth until Berry had an engine let go, bringing out the yellow flag on lap 13. On the restart, Martin looped his machine, giving Nester the point and Brian took off as the race went green the rest of the way. Nester took the win as he sailed to victory over Tim Burkett, Josh Weyher, Damon Breedlove, Greg Fuller, Dave Christiansen, Brad Wyatt, Martin, Mark Bott, Norm Taylor, Kenny Phillips, Ralph Baxter, Tommy O’Leary, Berry and Jim Resnew. Berry set fast time at 16:689 for the 15 car field and won the fast heat. Weyher captured the other heat win.
LaSalle, Ontario driver Kyle DeLisle picked up victory number 2 of the season, scoring the win in the 35 lap ARCA ACME Dismantling Sportsman feature. Ron Allen led the first 8 laps until Howard Kelley Jr. motored by on the outside for the lead on lap 9. On lap 11, the yellow appeared when Greg Stilwell and Kent McCloskey tangled. Allen dropped out with a flat tire at that point and on the restart, DeLisle, running second, got to the front and took control of the race, which went green for the final 24 laps. DeLisle withstood Kelley’s charge to take the win, with Mike Young third, Jim Froling fourth and Norm Lewallen fifth, followed by Kenny McKay Jr., Andy Harding, Jeff Myers Jr., David Frantz, Dan Grigsby, Rich Abel, Allen, Stilwell and McCloskey. Allen and McKay Jr. were the heat race winners, as McKay Jr. nipped Myers Jr. by inches to win that heat race. Young set fast time at 17:386 for the 14 car field.
...TOLEDO TIME TRIALS ARE ON THE TRACK!
Qualifying is up next at Toledo Speedway for Meijer Night at the Races! The Top Speed Modified Tour is up first for time trials, followed by the ARCA ACME Dismantling Sportsman division on the 1/2 mile.

It's overcast but nice and cool...a great night to be entertained at Toledo Speedway! Racing begins at 7:30.

FLAT ROCK’S JOY FAIR MEMORIAL, STAN YEE MEMORIAL TO RUN AS 1 RACE AUGUST 10
FLAT ROCK, MI: (7-30-13): With Mother Nature’s unwanted assistance, Flat Rock Speedway has had to alter its scheduling after several rainouts in the past weeks. Saturday, August 10, the Joy Fair Memorial and the Stan Yee Memorial will be combined into 1 race, for 150 laps. Diamond Racing Products and Moran Chevrolet will sponsor the biggest race of the season.
“We have simply run out of dates,” noted Ron Drager, owner-promoter of the track. “After 2 postponements of the Joy Fair Memorial and now the rainout of the Stan Yee Memorial last Saturday, our options have dwindled,” added Drager. “We will now honor the memory of Joy Fair and Stan Yee for the August 10 race, which will be 150 laps.”The pit pass prices and front gate prices will remain the same as they were for the 150 lap event that was scheduled for July 27. The event will pay $2533 to win and $533 to start the contest, with over 30 drivers from Michigan, Ohio, Indiana and Canada expected. The lap money will rise to $10 per lap, as the laps have sponsors for each of the 2 races. That will now be combined to move the amount to $10 per lap. In addition, several laps have additional bonus money attached.
Diamond Racing Products has posted $333 for fast time, in honor of Yee’s famous car number, #33.

Trackside Tidbits by Debi Domby
The Glass City Gold Cup Series returned to Toledo Friday night. The race was to be race four, but last week’s race rained out at Flat Rock. For the first time in five years there has been two first time winners in the series ... race two Stevie Cronenwett won and this week Steve Needles finally got his first Gold Cup win. The prior two late model races at Toledo Needles has been leading late in the race and had some misfortune befall him.

MORAN CHEVROLET/STAN YEE MEMORIAL 150 JULY 27 AT FLAT ROCK
(FLAT ROCK, MI - July 18, 2013) - For the past several seasons, Flat Rock Speedway’s biggest race of the year, the Moran Chevrolet/Stan Yee Memorial 150, has been incredible in terms of action, excitement and competition. And the 2012 edition was perhaps the best yet, as Mike Root passed both Harold Fair Jr. and Scott Hantz in the final 3 laps to record the thrilling victory, much to the delight of the large crowd on hand.
And now the question looms…..can this year’s race live up to last year’s event? The story of each of these races starts with the quality of the field of cars that have ventured to “The Rock” to run 150 laps on the tight, yet fast ¼ mile oval. For those of you that have yet to visit, the track has 2 grooves for great side by side racing.
Last year, the story of this grand race started early. Again, quality throughout the field in terms of equipment and drivers. First-time Flat Rock visitor Jeff Ganus wheeled into the lead and then battled with Scott Hantz for much of the event—Hantz in the low groove, Ganus up top in the 2nd lane. Enter Harold Fair Jr. into the picture and the battle was on…again, incredible action! Meanwhile, Mike Root, who has become known at least in these parts as the guy that lays back and then powers his way into contention, did just that. With less than 50 laps to go, Root was back to 14th spot. It was time—time to go. 1 by 1, car by car, Root picked them off; high, low, up, down. Ganus faded slightly, Fair moved into second and began to pressure Hantz----but no one had any money on Root. The red #9 moved to the top of the track, stayed in the throttle and nosed by first Fair and then Hantz in the final 3 circuits as the crowd stood and cheered loudly.
The stories of the texts and phone calls to friends that weren’t at the track…and you know who you are, to tell them what they just missed keep being repeated, to remind them of what they missed. And, that this race is one that you have to see.
