(TOLEDO, Ohio - February 7, 2011) - Former ARCA Late Model driver and car owner Clifford Bailey, age 76, passed away Friday, February 4. Cliff drove the No. 6 car for many years around the Southeastern Michigan/Northern Ohio tracks. His sons, Cliff and Jim, have also raced Late Models recently at Flat Rock. Cliff owned and operated a salvage yard for many years with his wife, Marie.

Tadek "Ted" P. Stadniczuk, 63, whose sons Tadek and Dave drive in ARCA-sanctioned weekly competition at Flat Rock and Toledo Speedways, died Wednesday Jan. 12 in St. Anne Mercy Hospital in Toledo. Tadek actively supported his sons' racing efforts in the ARCA Street Stock, Factory Stock and Enduro divisions at Flat Rock and Toledo; his brothers-in-law John Riddle and Ellis Shaw are officials for the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards; and his nephew Greg Riddle is a Flat Rock and Toledo Speedway official.

Lindahl Comes Back from North Pole, Bowls 300

The jolly old white haired (ok, grey) dog himself has etched his name in the record books January 6 at Glass Bowl Lanes in Toledo, nailing down his first 300 game and a 779 series to boot for the PB Fabrication team.
 
After several hundred years of trying, Gary Lindahl bowled a perfect game!  As of press time, he was still buying rounds at the bar (sure).

86-Year-Old Figure-8 Veteran Jack Theis Passes

Jack Theis, who drove car #336 in ARCA Figure-8 races at Flat Rock Speedway in the 1960s, passed away at the age of 86. A resident of Lewiston Michigan, Theis was the father in law of Bill Litogot Jr. Bill Litogot III is the 2006 ARCA 4-Cylinder division champion and currently competes in the ARCA Late Model division. Funeral services are private.

William Gillelan, long-time car owner for the legendary ARCA late model driver Joy Fair, passed away December 8 at the age of 82 after a long illness.

"Gilley", as he was known to his friends and competitors, teamed with Russ Wainscott and their driver, Fair, and amassed an astounding list of victories and track championships throughout Michigan, Ohio, Indiana and much of the Midwest. Included on that list are 10 Flat Rock Speedway championships and 7 Toledo Speedway track titles in the ARCA Late Model division.

Bikers Raise Big Money for Kids at Toledo

Over 1,500 participants mounted up on nearly 1,000 motorcycles on Sunday, Nov. 7 to benefit the Harbor Behavioral Healthcare facilities in Toledo. Bikers brought forth toys for kids and cash donations totaling over $15,000 at the 21st annual event. Toledo Mayor Mike Bell and Lucas County Sheriff deputies on bikes led the procession, which departed from Toledo Speedway and traversed I-75, I-280 and downtown Toledo. In all, some 2,600 participants and spectators took part in the function, which ended its round trip at the Toledo Speedway Bar & Grill, where bikers enjoyed food provided by Gladieaux Catering and music provided by Josh Boyd. Event organizer Mike Wenzel of Toledo announced the Toy Run to benefit Harbor would again be held on the first Sunday of November in 2011 (the 6th) departing from Toledo Speedway, so mark your calendars now.

(TOLEDO, Ohio - October 12, 2010) - In the last 11 years since the Glass City race was reinstated, only twice has rain affected the race. Back in 2005, the race was called at half way (John Doering Jr. won) and the 2010 rendition of the race. The Great Lakes Helicopters Glass City 200 presented by Cherry Picked Auto Parts started under cold and very damp conditions and made it only to the 10th lap when it was put under rain delay. After an hour and a half rain delay it was decided to try on Sunday. Sunday wasn't much better, still cold and windy and by the end of race, the heavy misty rain had returned. ...
