(TOLEDO, Ohio - May 22, 2012) - ARCA’s Allegiant Late Model Gold Cup Series for the outlaw-style bodied cars will visit Spartan Speedway Sunday, May 27 for a 100-lap shootout on the quarter-mile paved oval. The current list of paid entries stands at 20 cars, with several more drivers expected to make the trip to the Lansing, Mich.-area track.

(FLAT ROCK, Michigan - June 16, 2012) - A huge crowd ventured to Flat Rock Speedway Saturday night for the Pizza Hut School Bus Figure 8 races.  The fans were treated to a tremendous race card, with action and excitement the name of the game.  Ray “The Animal” Gaddis survived to win the School Bus Figure 8 feature, 13-year old Grant Quinlen drove like a veteran to win the Michigan Legends feature, Gary Cronenwett came out on top in the wild ARCA Parts Galore Figure 8 feature, the team of Tom O’Leary IV/Jim Brazeau took the Figure 8 Train race and Ray McClure was the victor in the ARCA 4 Cylinder main event.

1975 GLASS CITY 200 WINNER JIM BICKERSTAFF-FIRST BUCKEYE TO WIN CLASSIC

In 1968, Toledo Speedway promoter and ARCA founder John Marcum came up with the idea of running a 200 lap Late Model invitational—the Glass City 200.  Despite a 20-year hiatus of the race from 1978-1998 (when the Toledo track was sold), the race was revived in 1999 when Marcum’s grandson, Ron Drager, purchased the track with business partner Roy Mott.

And the race still carries the prestige and notoriety that it once did back in the 1960’s and 1970’s

For the first time in several years, the Glass City 200 overall champion did not win one of the 100 lap segments.  But 1975 champ Jim Bickerstaff (#24) displayed great strength as he battled 2 of Michigan’s legendary short track kings, Joy Fair and Bob Senneker.  Jim became the first Ohio driver to win the Glass City 200….

Wild Night Begins Toledo Season; Senneker Tops the Field

Toledo, OH 5/9/2008-- Despite drab weather and a rain pattern that surrounded the Toledo area, Toledo Speedway kicked off its 2008 season with the Speedway Tire and Auto/Big Red Crème Soda Night presented by Barney’s Convenience Marts. Terry Senneker Jr. made the trip over from the west side of Michigan and scored the win in the ARCA Late Model feature, while Jim Froling powered his way to victory in the 35 lap ARCA Sportsman main. Dave Arnold Jr. and Craig Osenbaugh notched the ARCA Factory Stock features. Kelly Wilson of Big Red and Gladys Cothern of Cadbury-Schweppes presented the trophies in the Glass Bowl Lanes Winner’s Circle.

TOLEDO, OH (7-11-2008)--  A hot, steamy night provided some great racing action at Toledo Speedway Friday night for the Velvet Ice Cream Christmas in July prize give-away promotion.  Santa Claus handed out dozens of prizes to race fans while Jeff Nelson of Velvet presented trophies to the winners.  Ron Allen, Jeremy Miller, Landon Schuster, Matt Ringger and Brad Turner posted feature events wins in their respective classes.

Father Fair Shows Son the Way at Toledo

TOLEDO, OH (8-8-2008)--  He’s 62? Years old, but he doesn’t drive like it, at least on the race track..  The ageless wonder Harold Fair Sr. held back the charge of his son, Harold Jr. to win the 50 lap ARCA Allegiant Air Gold Cup Late Model feature Friday night at Toledo Speedway.  And Harold took the win on Racer’s Reunion Night!  He was presented the Gold Cup by former track champs Danny Byrd and Harold Cook, who were on hand for the festivities.

Former Winner Doering, Michigan Hot Shoe Joe Bush Enter Glass City Late Model Event

TOLEDO, OH (9-11-2008)--  2006 race winner John Doering has filed his entry for the 20th Anniversary of the Miller Lite Glass City 200, set for Saturday, September 20 at Toledo Speedway.  Hastings, MI driver Joe Bush, also expected to be a contender for the win, has also entered this year’s edition of the Late Model invitational, which has been set for 150 laps for 2008.  A cash purse of over $55,000 has been posted, with 200 laps of feature racing planned for the evening.
