TRENT STEPHENS FLIES TO FLAT ROCK VICTORY
(FLAT ROCK, Michigan - August 11, 2012) - Current Midwest Super Modified Association (MSA) point leader Trent Stephens sailed to a dominating win in Saturday’s 40 lap main event at Flat Rock Speedway. The race, the first Super Modified event at Flat Rock in over 30 years, saw 10 cars in the 10 second bracket in qualifying in an impressive display of speed and power. Heritage Newspapers served as the sponsor for the race card. Other feature winners were Rob Moore, Gary Cronenwett and Chris Metdepenningen.
The 15 MSA cars on hand used the practice sessions to get familiar with the fast ¼ mile paved oval, as only a few drivers had ever competed at “The Rock” in the past. Stephens got hooked up and put down a lap of 10:449 in the qualifying session. The 40 lap main saw Trent start in the 8th spot, and 3 quick yellows in the first 6 laps slowed the action. The final 34 laps were straight green flag, and Stephens and the MSA stars showed their muscle. By lap 3, Trent had moved into the lead by going both high and low to take control of the race. In fact, he was on a rail as he flawlessly zipped through the pack and ran 30 laps in the 10 second bracket during the feature! At the finish, only second place DJ Shullick and third place Charlie Schultz were on the lead lap as the furious pace set by Stephens put cars down a lap or more. Kyle Edwards was fourth and Bobby Dawson came from the back to 5th spot at the finish. Zach Gibson, AJ Lesiecki Jr., Jon Henes, Bob Reisz and Brandon Fisher rounded out the top 10. Kevin Shirey, Mike McVetta, Jim Paller and Matt Marlow completed the finishing order. Jack Smith snapped an axle during a heat race and tagged the wall, ending his night. Stephens and Schultz were the heat race winners.

PELLETIER-FRANTZ-EARLEY BEAT THE RAIN AT FLAT ROCK (ALMOST)
(FLAT ROCK, Michigan - August 4, 2012) - For the first time since April 28, rain fell on a Saturday at Flat Rock Speedway. But a great effort by the race teams and track officials kept things moving along and allowed the Glass Unlimited Night to be nearly complete, as the Figure 8 feature was called after 14 of the 20 laps. Paul Pelletier, Rich Frantz and Billy Earley captured the wins. Walter Krause of Glass Unlimited presented the trophies and bonus money to the winning trio.
The clouds started to roll in around the 4 p.m. practice start and continued to build as approaching storms just missed the track. At 6:45, 15 minutes before start time, a heavy 10 minute downpour caused a delay, pushing the race card back to a 7:30 p.m. start. The race teams were ready and kept the race card moving through the heats and features.
...KELLEY JR.-LOVING-TURNBULL-WELLS TOPS AT TOLEDO

Rose Wells and her granddaughters, representing Jeff's Collision, presented the trophies in the Sun Drop Winner's Circle.
All kids 14 and under were admitted free and received a free hot dog, chips and a drink, courtesy of Sherwood Foods, Dr. Pepper/Snapple Group and Herr’s Potato Chips.

The fast, 2-groove ¼ mile paved oval will host the Midwest Super Modifieds (MSA) for the first time in over 30 years for Heritage Newspapers Night. The low-slung, fire-breathing, open-wheel creations will return to “The Rock” after losing the 2011 event due to rain.
...Trackside Tidbits by Debi Domby
A lot of things describe what you feel when you win, joy, elation, jubilation. Mike Root won the ARCA Allegiant Air Gold Cup Stan Yee Memorial 150 at Flat Rock Speedway and added a couple unusual reactions, such as baffled, dumfounded and mystified. Root was nearly lapped earlier in the race, only to come on late in the event to win his second Gold Cup feature ... the 150-lap feature a couple years ago. The largest Gold Cup field this season, 34 Super Late Models, were on hand.

MIKE ROOT CAPTURES THRILLING MORAN CHEVROLET STAN YEE MEMORIAL 150
(FLAT ROCK, Michigan - July 28, 2012) - It’s a race that will be talked about for a long, long time. 5 different leaders, side by side, sometimes 3-wide racing and just great action from the front to the back. A stellar field and superb driving by the entire 24 car field set the stage and wrote the book on what race fans come to see at the local short tracks across the nation every summer weekend. This story will not do this race justice—you really need to talk to the fans that were at Flat Rock to witness this incredible race.
And Saturday night at Flat Rock Speedway, the ARCA Moran Chevrolet Late Models put on perhaps the best race in years for the division at the fast and extremely competitive ¼ mile paved oval. Grand Rapids, MI driver Mike Root charged to the front after dropping back as far as 20th and powered by Harold Fair Jr. and then Scott Hantz on the high side with 3 laps to go to win the sensational Moran Chevrolet Stan Yee Memorial 150 in front of an excellent crowd on a perfect evening. Dick Barker, representing Moran Chevy, presented the Gold Cup to Mike, while Ann Yee awarded Root the 5 foot Stan Yee Memorial trophy in victory lane ceremonies. The 150 lap race was also leg number 5 of the ARCA Allegiant Gold Cup Series.
