Flat Rock, MI (5-9-09)-- Despite plunging temperatures, brisk winds and an early rain shower, Flat Rock Speedway completed its Ray Hunter Florist-sponsored Mother's Day Special event Saturday evening. A brief rain set in at 3 p.m., but track officials decided to march on with the program. The rain stayed to the north of the track and the fans that did brave the elements witnessed an exciting night of racing. Eric Lee, Jerry Lee, Randy DeMaggio and Jim Stocker captured feature wins. In 1968, Toledo Speedway promoter and ARCA founder John Marcum came up with the idea of running a 200 lap Late Model invitational—the Glass City 200.  Despite a 20-year hiatus of the race from 1978-1998 (when the Toledo track was sold), the race was revived in 1999 when Marcum’s grandson, Ron Drager, purchased the track with business partner Roy Mott.

And the race still carries the prestige and notoriety that it once did back in the 1960’s and 1970’s. 

Today, we look at 1971…a great field of cars and a big controversy highlighted the event, but did not keep Bob Senneker from making it 2 wins in a row at the 200…….as he posed with the trophy.

TOLEDO, Ohio (December 16, 2009)--The 2010 racing schedules for both Flat Rock and Toledo Speedway have been released today. Toledo will continue its Friday night weekly racing card with special weekend events also on the new slate for the 51st season of racing at the Glass City oval. Flat Rock kicks off its 58th consecutive season with its traditional Saturday night shows.

Flat Rock, MI:  (4-25-10)-- Weather issues April 24 have moved Flat Rock Speedway's season opener to Saturday, May 1.  7-Up and Corrigan Oil will team up to sponsor the first race of the 2010 season at the 1/4 mile paved oval.  The ARCA Moran Chevrolet Late Models, which were originally not scheduled for May 1, have now been added to the race card.  The track will also play host Armed Forces Appreciation Night Saturday evening.

Toledo Speedway, Thursday May 20, 2010
Nearly 100 classic cars were on hand for the weekly Placers Car Club Cruise-In held on the race track at Toledo Speedway. The weekly shows are sponsored by Toledo Speedway and the Toledo Speedway Bar & Grill.

The Toledo Speedway ¼ mile track is loaded with car owners, spectators and classic cars Thursday night.

Judy Nemire (below) and Jim Antagliata were among the attendees enjoying the show.

The next Placers Car Club Cruise-In at Toledo Speedway is scheduled for 6-8 p.m. Thursday, May 27.
