Bikers Raise Big Money for Kids at Toledo

Over 1,500 participants mounted up on nearly 1,000 motorcycles on Sunday, Nov. 7 to benefit the Harbor Behavioral Healthcare facilities in Toledo. Bikers brought forth toys for kids and cash donations totaling over $15,000 at the 21st annual event. Toledo Mayor Mike Bell and Lucas County Sheriff deputies on bikes led the procession, which departed from Toledo Speedway and traversed I-75, I-280 and downtown Toledo. In all, some 2,600 participants and spectators took part in the function, which ended its round trip at the Toledo Speedway Bar & Grill, where bikers enjoyed food provided by Gladieaux Catering and music provided by Josh Boyd. Event organizer Mike Wenzel of Toledo announced the Toy Run to benefit Harbor would again be held on the first Sunday of November in 2011 (the 6th) departing from Toledo Speedway, so mark your calendars now.

2010 Flat Rock, Toledo Champions Honored

(SOUTHGATE, Mich. - November 8, 2010) - Race teams, officials, family and friends met Friday evening for the annual Flat Rock and Toledo Speedways banquet, held at the elegant Crystal Gardens Banquet Center in Southgate, MI.  The evening was hosted by track announcer Gary Lindahl.  All the track champions received their championship jackets as ARCA President Ron Drager led the toast to the champions.

(TOLEDO, Ohio - October 12, 2010) - In the last 11 years since the Glass City race was reinstated, only twice has rain affected the race. Back in 2005, the race was called at half way (John Doering Jr. won) and the 2010 rendition of the race. The Great Lakes Helicopters Glass City 200 presented by Cherry Picked Auto Parts started under cold and very damp conditions and made it only to the 10th lap when it was put under rain delay. After an hour and a half rain delay it was decided to try on Sunday. Sunday wasn't much better, still cold and windy and by the end of race, the heavy misty rain had returned. ...

Hantz Paces Glass City 200 Practice

(TOLEDO, Ohio - October 2, 2010) Scott Hantz set the pace during the final practice session for the 22nd Running of the Great Lakes Helicopters Glass City 200, presented by Cherry Picked Auto Parts this afternoon at Toledo Speedway.

Hantz, in the EMF #72, turned a fast lap of 14.866 s seconds, for an average speed of 121,082 mph. Hantz, the Pleasant Lake, IN veteran, has dominated in his appearances at Toledo, winning two of the three Gold Cup Late Model events at the high-banked half mile this summer.
