LEE-VANDERHOOF-MCKEE-LANGE FLAT ROCK 60TH ANNIVERSARY WINNERS
(FLAT
ROCK, MI - July 13, 2013) -
After 3 weeks of rain, sunshine and racing returned to Flat Rock
Speedway for the track’s official 60th Anniversary celebration. Eric Lee, Jeremy Vanderhoof, Clyde McKee and
Craig Lange were victorious and visited the Sun Drop Winner’s Circle. A good crowd turned out to witness the
historic and what turned out to be a long, long night of racing, capped off
with the annual Fireworks display.
A great battle for the lead for much of the event kept
things exciting in the 60 lap ARCA Moran Chevrolet Late Model feature. The 23 car field took the green and Dennis
Strickland nosed into the lead. Eric Lee
worked his way up from his starting spot and pressured Strickland as the laps
clicked off. Paul Pelletier was the man
on the move as he steadily moved up from 12th spot to slide into
contention for the win. That trio put on
a great show in the final 15 laps, as they worked their way through race
traffic. Lee, using the high groove,
grabbed the top spot with 11 laps to go and grabbed the victory. Pelletier dove to the inside of Strickland in
the final 5 circuits to cap off his great run to second, Strickland was third,
Steve Cronenwett Jr. recovered and charged back up to fourth spot.
Steve had been in fourth for the first half of the race, but got bounced back
several spots in heavy traffic, only to zip back up to fourth at the
stripe. Fifth was Ron Allen, followed by
Derek Wiley, Justin Schroeder, Frank Jiovani, Scott Pemberton and Jeff
Plumb. A lap 50 red flag saw Jeff Vrsek
and Brad Turner eliminated from competition.
Both drivers were ok. Jiovani,
Dan Trosen Jr. and Derrick Sheppard were heat race winners. Lee set fast time at 11:731.

NEEDLES NOTCHES 1ST TOLEDO WIN IN PARTS GALORE 100
(TOLEDO, Ohio - July 12, 2013) - After having victory elude him at Toledo Speedway, Steve Needles finally got the win he deserved and did it in dominating fashion, sailing to the victory in the Parts Galore 100 for the ARCA Glass City Gold Cup Late Model Series Friday night. Howard Kelley Jr. and Robbie Loving continued their win streaks by taking their feature events on a perfect night for racing.
Scott Hantz powered into the lead on the green flag of the 100 lap Late Model feature, but Needles was right there and took the top spot on lap 8. Harold Fair Jr. began his march to the front, moving to 3rd and then 2nd by lap 12. As Needles zipped along, the first yellow came out on lap 53 for debris. On the restart, Needles got out front again, but the yellow appeared on lap 56 when Scott Pemberton dropped oil, causing Fair Jr., Hantz, Dakota Carlson and Dennis Strickland to spin. A lengthy cleanup stopped the action. On the restart Fair had something for the leader as he dove under Needles in turn 3, briefly taking the lead, but the yellow erased that move when Brent Jack spun on lap 59. When racing resumed, Steve took off as he zoomed away to his first Toledo victory of his career. Fair Jr. and Strickland traded second spot in the final 10 laps, with Fair Jr. nailing down second, Strickland third, Jack came back to claim fourth and Jake Francis was fifth, followed by Mike Root, Hantz, Sam Coulter, Nick Bailey and Ron Allen. Carlson, Pemberton, JR Karl and Don St. Denis were next in line at the finish. Nick Grodi and Jason LaDuke scratched after practice. Jack set the fat time at 15:159.
...DIAMOND RACING PRODUCTS JOY FAIR MEMORIAL RESET FOR AUGUST 10
(FLAT ROCK, Michigan - July 11, 2013) - With any luck, the third time will be the charm for Flat Rock Speedway’s Diamond Racing Joy Fair Memorial 100. The race has now been rescheduled for Saturday, August 10. The original date was June 22 and the second attempt was set for July 6. Both dates were victims of heavy rains that have saturated the area in the past 3 weeks.

FLAT ROCK ANNIVERSARY SHOW RAINED OUT; RE-SET FOR JULY 13 AT 6:30 P.M.
Flat
Rock, Michigan-July 6, 2013: For the third straight week, Flat Rock
Speedway’s Saturday night race card was a victim of rain. The 60th Anniversary celebration
and Fireworks show was shaping up to be a great night, but it was not to be.
Much of the practice was completed before the rains came
just after 4 p.m. After a nearly 1 hour
rain delay, the track was dried, but, again, the rain returned and became quite
heavy at times.
The Anniversary event is now set for next Saturday, July
13. The Moran Chevrolet Late Models,
Parts Galore Figure 8’s and DTS Drive Train Specialists Street Stocks will each
run 60 lap feature events. The evening
will be capped off with the fireworks display.
A & M Transmission will sponsor the Figure 8 race,
while Corrigan Race Fuels will support the Street Stock event.
Race
time will be 6:30 p.m.
Information regarding the Diamond Racing Products Joy
Fair Memorial 100 for the ARCA Late Models that was to be a part of Saturday’s July
6 show will be released later this week.
An incredible field of 36 Late Models, 35 Street Stocks
and 15 Figure 8’s were at the track for the special night of racing before the
rain set in for the evening.
Please check the track webpage Monday afternoon for gate
times. Grandstand rain checks from July
6 may be used for any event remaining on the 2013 Flat Rock Speedway
schedule. Rain checks must be exchanged
at the ticket window upon arrival to the speedway.

KELLEY JR., O’LEARY AND PADGETT NOTCH TOLEDO FRIDAY NIGHT VICTORIES
(TOLEDO, Ohio - July 5, 2013) - Howard Kelley Jr., Tommy O’Leary and Archie Padgett took feature race wins Friday night at Toledo Speedway on Teamsters Union Night. All military, police, fire and EMT personnel were admitted free as guests of the speedway.
It was smooth sailing for the first 33 laps of the 35 lap ARCA ACME Dismantling Sportsman event, as Greg Stilwell led the first 5 laps until Jim Froling motored by for the lead. Howard Kelley Jr. reeled in Jim as the laps wore down and with 2 to go, the fireworks began. A turn 2 incident bunched the field, putting Kelley on the outside and Froling on the inside lane. Froling spun coming out of turn 2, bringing out another yellow. Jim took responsibility, moving Ron Allen up to second spot. On the restart, another multi-car wreck in turn 2 brought out the red flag, as Norm Lewallen and Mike Young sustained heavy damage to their machines. The inside cement blocks had to be put back in place, causing a delay in the action. Chad Stilwell also retired as part of the wreck. Kelley was able to pull away on the final restart and held on for the victory, his second in a row. Allen was second, Kyle DeLisle Jr. third, Froling came back to grab fourth and Greg Stilwell fifth, followed by Andy Harding, Kent McCloskey, Kenny McKay Jr., Amber Slagle and Dan Grigsby. Froling won the 4 car dash, with heat wins to JJ Haley and McKay Jr. Fast qualifier was Allen with a lap of 17:276.
