START OF THE SHORE LUNCH 200 PRESENTED BY CGS IMAGING

(200 laps / 100 miles)

4:30 PM Start, Saturday October 7

Rain date Sun. Oct. 8 - 1 pm

For the second consecutive season, the ARCA Menards Series will conclude its season and crown a champion with the Shore Lunch 200 Presented by CGS Imaging at Toledo Speedway on Saturday, October 7, and fans can “Save Big Money” on advance tickets by purchasing them at northwest Ohio- and southeast Michigan-area Menards stores for just $20, a savings of $10 on the raceday price at the gate.

Last year’s race came down to a battle between two future superstars, two-time ARCA Menards Series West champion Jesse Love – who had led 192 of the race’s first 195 laps – and Sammy Smith, himself a two-time ARCA Menards Series East champ who was looking to give Kyle Busch Motorsports the car owner’s championship. Throw in 2013 ARCA Menards Series champion Grant Enfinger, who was racing a one-off for team owner Jeff McClure, and it was a terrific three-car tussle for the win.

Enfinger led lap 196, but Love was able to get back by to lead lap 197. As they battled for the lead and the victory, Smith nudged Love out of the groove just enough to open the door and sneak by to take the lead, the win, and the owner’s title. Both drivers expressed their displeasure with each other in front of the full grandstands, while the fans in attendance roared their approval as team members scuffled.

Nick Sanchez locked up the ARCA Menards Series driver’s title around the midway point of the race when his main rival for the championship, Daniel Dye, fell off the pace with mechanical problems. Both Sanchez and Dye now race full-time in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.

Jesse Love leads the ARCA Menards Series championship standings by a healthy margin with five races remaining. Sanchez’s replacement Andres Perez in second with Hollywood superstar-turned-racecar driver Frankie Muniz in third. The series’ owners championship will again be on the line, with Venturini Motorsports and Joe Gibbs Racing going head-to-head for the title for the fourth consecutive year.

There will be a full day of on-track activity for the ARCA Menards Series, with practice at 10 am, General Tire Pole Qualifying at noon, and on-track autograph session at 2:45 pm, and the green flag for the Shore Lunch 200 presented by CGS Imaging at 4:30 pm ET. There will also be a special Valley Truck Centers 50-lap ARCA Outlaw Super Late Model feature event on the card. For complete event information please visit ToledoSpeedway.com.

Fans can purchase their advance discount general admission tickets to the Shore Lunch 200 for just $20 at Menards locations in Toledo, Oregon, Holland, Findlay, Defiance, and Sandusky in Ohio, and Belleville, Taylor, Ann Arbor, and Livonia in Michigan.

TOLEDO, Ohio — Appropriately, the final race of the 2023 ARCA Menards Series season was decided between Jesse Love and William Sawalich.

The respective ARCA Menards Series and ARCA Menards Series East champions have engaged in numerous aggressive battles whenever they’ve share the track together this year. One last chapter in their rivalry was written in Saturday’s Shore Lunch 200 presented by CGS Imaging at Toledo Speedway.

Sawalich got the last laugh on Love with a late-race pass, which earned him his fourth victory during his rookie ARCA Menards Series season and sixth on the platform overall. With Love unable to run him back down, the only obstacle Sawalich had to deal with was navigating lapped traffic.

“I was calm, cool and collected,” Sawalich said. “That was the best thing I could have done in that situation, and we navigated it well. The race car was on rails and we had a really good SoundGear Toyota Camry today.”

There was no love lost between Sawalich and Love during their many on-track encounters in 2023.

Berlin Raceway served as the catalyst for their rivalry, as Sawalich chased down a dominant Love before bumping him out of the way with a few couple laps remaining. Sawalich subsequently earned his first main ARCA victory while Love promised to not hold anything back moving forward.

The summer saw Love claim one victory after the other, yet Sawalich remained composed against the most efficient driver on the ARCA platform in 2023. All four of Sawalich’s wins in the main ARCA division came after he passed Love inside the final 50 laps, which included Saturday’s season-finale at Toledo.

Despite coming up short of an 11th victory on the year, Love was far from disappointed as he formally celebrated the 2023 ARCA Menards Series championship with Venturini Motorsports. Love’s consistency enabled him to wrap up the title by starting the penultimate event at Salem Speedway.

For Love, being able to take in such an achievement would not have been possible without the guidance everyone at Venturini provided him since running his first race with the organization back in 2020.

“This means a lot,” Love said. “I was a lot different of a person when I first got to Venturini compared to where I am now. Billy [Venturini] told me that [would happen] when I was kind of sucking a little bit. A lot of great people put me in this situation and I’m looking forward to the future.”

With a stellar season now officially in the record books, Love earned Venturni their fourth ARCA Menards Series owner’s championship and their first since Christian Eckes accomplished that feat during the 2019 season.

Bill Venturini, a two-time ARCA Menards Series champion driver, knew Love was a championship-caliber driver the moment Love joined the team. He wishes Love could remain a part of Venturini Motorsports, but is confident his champion driver will keep thriving in NASCAR’s top levels.

“Jesse is part of the family now,” Bill said. “I told him to never think he wasn’t part of the Big V family. The kid is a talent and a wheel. You’re going to be seeing him race on Sundays pretty soon.”

The only minor negative on such a joyous afternoon for Venturini was not being able to celebrate in Victory Lane, where Sawalich parked the No. 18 for Joe Gibbs Racing.

High expectations were placed upon Sawalich after two-time East Series champion Sammy Smith moved up to the NASCAR Xfinity Series this year. Sawalich was thrilled with everything he achieved in his first season with Gibbs and is eager to build upon that success in 2024.

“[I’m most proud about] winning,” Sawalich said. “That’s the first thing we want to do when we get to the race track. We had really good teamwork and there was really good execution all year.”

ARCA Menards Series West points leader Sean Hingorani finished third behind Sawalich and Love. Rounding out the top-five were Andres Perez and Christian Rose.

Although the 2023 ARCA Menards Series season has concluded, there are still three events remaining on the ARCA Menards Series West schedule. The first of those is the Star Nursery 150 at The Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, which is scheduled for Oct. 13. The event will be broadcast live by FloRacing at 10 p.m. ET.

Valley Truck Centers Outlaw Super Late Model Feature Sponsored by Churchill Transport, Tom's Collision, Innovative Fluids, VanDoorn Racing Development:

Trevor Berry won the Toledo Speedway Valley Truck Centers Outlaw Super Late Models 50-lap feature race, sponsored by Churchill Transport, Tom's Collision, Innovative Fluids, and VanDoorn Racing Development.

Berry started fifth in the feature, just in front of fast qualifier Conner Zbozien in the Moran Chevrolet #45 late model. Jimmy Thiel in the #09 maintained the lead for the first laps of the race, with Berry and Zbozien battling through the P51 of Scott Pemberton into fourth place over the first distance of laps.

JR Fitzpatrick would pass for the lead near lap 20, powering through on the inside as the next four cars scrambled for position in the following wake.

At this point, Conner Zbozien and Trevor Berry would get together into turn one, bringing the first caution of the day as the fast qualifier #45 would spin. Berry and Zbozien would both start at the rear of the field in the next restart, bringing them both to a mad dash throughout the field.

Jimmy Thiel would once again retain the lead on the ensuing restart, and hold a tight lead until lap 33, when contact between Thiel and Mike Mazzagatti in the #87 while battling for the lead would generate another restart, this time with Thiel and Chris Benson starting beside each other.

Berry, starting behind Thiel during this restart, would follow the 09 to second place, passing Benson during the restart.

Berry would waste no time, passing Thiel on the outside and into his first lead of the day, one he wouldn’t relinquish for the rest of the event.

At the end of the race, Berry would win over Chris Benson and Jimmy Thiel in third. Mike Mazzagatti and Scott Pemberton would fill out the top five.

Joe Hawes in the Mopar would finish sixth, followed by Lenny Roberts and Conner Zbozien. Bob Mikolajcyzk and JR Fitzpatrick would complete the top ten.
