Rain Washes Out Toledo Action; Preparation Underway for Next Weekend's Double-Header

TOLEDO OH (5-13-05)  Mother Nature intervened on Toledo Speedway’s racing program Friday evening as rain washed out the Marco’s Pizza 100 for the ARCA Late Models.  The Michigan Legends Cars and the ARCA Factory Stocks were also slated for action.   

The Late Model portion of the race card was scheduled to be leg number 1 of the Royal Truck-Trailer/D & H Kenworth Gold Cup Series, which consists for 4 races—2 at Flat Rock and 2 at Toledo.  Friday’s event will be rescheduled, with the date to be announced in the coming weeks.  The Legends Cars make-up date will also be announced in the near future. 

Toledo Speedway now prepares for a big double-header weekend, beginning next Friday evening, May 20 with All American Coach Autograph Night.  Race fans will be permitted to walk onto the track and meet their favorite drivers at the track.  The ARCA Eastern Oil/Cintas Sportsman will run a 50 lap feature on the ½ mile oval, while the ARCA Casite Figure 8’s, A-1 Auto Parts Factory Stocks and the ARCA 4 Cylinders will battle on the short track.  It will also be Racing Fan Club Night.  The autograph session begins at 7, with Friday night racing at 7:30 p.m. 

Sunday afternoon, May 22 is the date for the first of 2 trips for the ARCA RE/MAX Series to the Glass City for the Hantz Group 200 presented by Federated Car Care.  NASCAR driver Ken Schrader will compete against ARCA champ Frank Kimmel, Jason Jarrett, Chad Blount, Joey Miller and all the ARCA stars.  A total of 49 cars have entered the contest as of this week, with several more expected.  The front gates will open at 9:30 a.m., practice begins at 10, Pork Pole qualifying is set for 11:45, with an on-track autograph session slated for 12:30.  The green flag drops at 2 p.m. for the 200 lap contest, which will be televised live on SPEED.  An open practice session will take place Saturday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
