Don't Miss Out: Supermodifieds Return to Toledo on April 18th

Since Herb Koester first paved that old tomato field on Toledo's east side and opened the gates in 1960, Toledo Speedway has been the heartbeat of Midwest short-track racing. Sixty-plus years of wheel-to-wheel battles have produced ARCA champions, household NASCAR names, and memories that still get told in garages across Northwest Ohio. That legacy charges back to life this spring as Toledo Speedway kicks off the 2026 season with the House of Meats Opening Day, fueled by Marcos Pizza and Insulators on Saturday, April 18.

One of the crown jewels of this year's opener is one that fans have been waiting on for years: the 350 Outlaw SuperModified Series is coming to Toledo Speedway. Open-wheel, purpose-built, and flat-out fearless, these machines are exactly what Toledo's high-banked half-mile was made for. The Supermodified's return is a nod to the track's deep open-wheel roots; back to the days when winged warriors drew the biggest crowds on the Great Lakes circuit, and a statement that 2026 is going to be something special.

Sharing the card is the Turn One CRA Pro Series, returning to a track where CRA history was made. Toledo hosted the very first JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour race in 2011, and the series has delivered fireworks here ever since. This year's field features some of the most compelling names in template late model racing. Chase Pinsonneault, grandson of Toledo Late Model Sportsman veteran Alec Pinsonneault, arrives fresh off a CRA victory at Flat Rock Speedway and the 2024 JEGS Tour Rookie of the Year award. Billy VanMeter brings national-tour experience and the kind of quiet speed that wins races on Opening Day. Finally, Blake Rowe is the defending JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour champion who last won at Toledo with a final-lap pass out of turn four in the 2022 Glass City 200. Rowe returns with unfinished business and a car that can close after a close race last April under clear skies.

Monroe Asphalt Factory Stocks and Salenbien Excavating Late Model Sportsman round out a full day of racing action at one of Ohio's most storied facilities. Whether you've been coming to Toledo Speedway since the Rollie Bealle era or you're loading up the family for the very first time, House of Meats Opening Day is the place to be on April 18th.
