Largest Single-Division Entry List in 12 Years at Toledo
Nearly 70 drivers from 12 states will converge on Toledo Speedway this Saturday for the All-American Coach Open-Wheel Spectacular featuring the 500 Sprint Car Tour and the Midwest Modified Tour. In addition to the two open wheel divisions, the track’s weekly ARCA Salenbein Trucking & Excavating Late Model Sportsman and ARCA Factory Stock divisions will also be in action.
The 500 Sprint Car Tour will return to action for the first time since the famed Little 500 at Indiana’s Anderson Speedway. Former ARCA Menards Series winner Dakoda Armstrong will be looking to avenge a tough loss in the Little 500; he was flagged as the winner but an oversight found in post-race inspection saw him relegated to the tail of the field.
Armstrong will have his hands full if he hopes to make his first visit to Toledo Speedway’s winner’s circle. Californian Kody Swanson, with nearly a dozen wins at Toledo in sprint car and USAC Silver Crown competition headlines nearly 20 drivers including former Toledo winner Bobby Santos III, local favorite Taylor Ferns, and former Penske Racing development driver Billy Wease.
A total of 50 drivers from nine states have pre-entered the Midwest Modifieds portion of the event, the largest single-division entry at Toledo Speedway since 2013.
Second generation driver and former Toledo winner Trevor Berry leads the list of talented drivers who will attempt to race their way into the night’s 50-lap feature. There will be a pair of last-chance races for drivers who do not make the feature based on qualifying and then a 20-lap B-Feature.
Other headliners include Owensboro, Kentucky’s Brett Hudson, Marion, Ohio driver Kyle Purvis, former ARCA Menards Series pole winner at Flat Rock Speedway Rick Groetsch, former ARCA Menards Series winner at Toledo Speedway Chuck Barnes, Jr., former track regular Kale Asztalos, and Pensacola, Florida’s Derrick Griffin.
