Frankie Muniz Enters Toledo Speedway Shore Lunch 200

(September 28, 2023) - Actor-turned-racer Frankie Muniz has entered the Toledo Speedway Shore Lunch 200 presented by CGS Imaging, set for Saturday October 7th.

This is Muniz’s second round at racing in a premier American motorsports series, his first in the stock car racing discipline. Muniz began his racing endeavors as a celebrity driver in the Long Beach Street Circuit’s annual Toyota Pro/Celebrity Race in 2004. Muniz, at the time the star of the FOX hit TV show “Malcolm in the Middle”, would finish 7th in his first race.

In 2008, he put acting on hold to pursue a career in motorsports, competing in the Atlantic Championship. Unfortunately, Muniz sustained injuries while racing in the Champ Car Atlantic Championship series at Mid-Ohio, forcing him to step aside in 2009.

Since then, he has been focused on resuming his racing career. Racing full-time in the ARCA Menards series has proved both a large accomplishment, and a new beginning for Muniz. Future plans have been hinted in regards to a potential future in the NASCAR touring series, with an ultimate goal of reaching the NASCAR Cup Series over the next few years.

Muniz plans to race to inspire his one year old son. The message is simple: That you can always chase your dreams.

Muniz spoke with Toledo Speedway earlier in the 2023 racing season, discussing his excitement for the season finale as well as more on his excitement for the race ahead.

“Yeah - October 7, the ARCA Menards Series finale at Toledo. I'm definitely going to be there. I can officially announce that that we'll be racing the rest of the year, and hopefully the next couple races will put us in the position to where we have a chance to win the championship at Toledo Speedway.” said Muniz, “So make sure you guys come out! Either way, it's going to be really fun and I'll be out there.”

Last year’s race came down to a battle between two future superstars, two-time ARCA Menards Series West champion Jesse Love – who had led 192 of the race’s first 195 laps – and Sammy Smith, himself a two-time ARCA Menards Series East champ who was looking to give Kyle Busch Motorsports the car owner’s championship. Throw in 2013 ARCA Menards Series champion Grant Enfinger, who was racing a one-off for team owner Jeff McClure, and it was a terrific three-car tussle for the win.
