September 6, 2023:  Toledo Speedway’s signature event, the Glass City 200 presented by DTS Drive Train Specialists and the Courtyard by Marriott, is just around the corner as the 35th edition of the prestigious race takes place Saturday, September 16.  A new format is in place for this year’s event, with the ASA Stars National Late Model Tour taking center stage for a 200 lap event on the fast ½ mile paved oval.

The Toledo stop for the ASA Late Model Tour is leg number 8 of 10 events in the inaugural season for the group, reviving the ASA moniker/name from its past success from the late 1970’s to the early 2000’s.

The track’s ARCA Salenbien Excavating Late Model Sportsman and the ARCA Safety Kleen Factory Stocks are also part of the race card, with each division competing in their final point race of 2023 to determine the Season Champions.

One of the most famous Late Models of the past years, Bob Senneker’s #84 “Bluebird”, will be on display in the spectator concourse.   Bob’s nephew and fellow past Glass City 200 winner, Terry Senneker Jr. and his wife, Heather, purchased the car and will be at Toledo for the Glass City 200.  Bob Senneker, a former ASA champion and a 33-time Late Model winner at Toledo, made the trip from Dorr, MI to the Glass City oval many times in the 1970’s and 1980’s.  Bob is also a 3-time winner of the Glass City 200 with victories in 1970, 1971 and 1977.

10-time track champion Ron Allen leads 4-time king Jim Froling and 3-time champ Howard Kelley Jr. heading into the battle for the Late Model Sportsman crown. Gabrielle Grigsby and Kyle Worley round out the top 5 in points with 1 race to go.  Hometown driver Josh Bunting has the edge on Steven Smith, Brad Turner, Matt Bunting and Grigsby going into the September 16 final race for the Factory Stock drivers.

“We are very excited for the 2023 edition of the Glass City 200,” noted Ron Drager, Owner and Promoter of the track.  “The 200 is a very, very important event on our schedule year in and year out, and the return of the ASA brand and the great group of drivers that will compete in this event is outstanding.  We look forward to September 16 and this signature event of the track, which draws fans and race teams from several states and Canada”.

Additional sponsors of the Glass City 200 include R & M Recycling, Sunoco Race Fuels/Holder Oil Company, Miller Lite/NWO Beverage and Marco’s Pizza.

Tickets are now on sale online at www.toledospeedway.com.  Add $1 per ticket for online purchases. Tickets may also be obtained by calling the track at 419-727-1100. The track ticket office will be open at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 16, race day.  Tickets will be available on a walk-up basis also.  All seating is general admission for this race.

The Saturday, September 16 schedule has practice beginning at 11:15 a.m.  The Late Model Sportsman and Factory Stock Championship races begin at 2, qualifying for ASA begins at 3:30, an on-track autograph session is planned for 4:15 p.m. and the 200 gets the green flag at 5:30 p.m.  A rain date of Sunday, September 17 at 1 p.m. has been established if needed.
