Big Car Count for Saturday's Race at Toledo Speedway

Big Car Count for Saturday's Race at Toledo Speedway
Equals the LARGEST EVER car count for a USAC Silver Crown race at Toledo

Tuesday, August 1 -- 24 cars are entered into Saturday’s race at Toledo Speedway, marking a match of the largest car count for a USAC Silver Crown race at Toledo in history.

Kody Swanson looks to take his fifth consecutive USAC Silver Crown win at Toledo in this Saturday’s race. The Californian has taken Toledo Speedway by storm, winning every Hemelgarn/SuperFitness Rollie Beale Classic since 2018. Swanson made history last year by winning his record sixth total Rollie Beale Classic in front of a packed Lucas County crowd, and looks to continue the streak on Saturday.

Swanson is looking to take his third consecutive championship this year in the Silver Crown division, a record streak that has only been accomplished by Swanson. In a racing division more than fifty years old, no driver has more wins than Swanson (39), or season championships (7).

He tops a USAC Silver Crown wins list that includes a monolith of the greatest drivers of all time - drivers like Kyle Larson, Kasey Kahne, JJ Yeley, Ryan Newman, Jeff Gordon, Tony Stewart, and Mario Andretti have all taken wins. None have as many as Swanson.

Swanson looks to take his record 40th USAC Silver Crown win at Toledo on August 5th.

To the rest of the USAC Silver Crown field, they look to take a big Rollie Beale Classic win, and break the streak as well as close the points lead.

Kaylee Bryson currently leads the Silver Crown National Championship Rookie Driver Points, the young driver in a strong third place in the overall points battle. The Oklahoma-native looks to extend her points lead over a name that many around Toledo Speedway are familiar with - Tyler Roahrig. Roahrig came back earlier this summer as a part of the Fathers Day Special at Toledo Speedway, and looks to put in a strong performance this weekend.

Logan Seavey is currently runner-up in the overall points battle in the USAC Silver Crown division. An accomplished dirt racer and NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series alumni, Seavey looks to put in a big performance on the half-mile this weekend.

Bobby Santos is the last driver not named “Kody Swanson” to win the Hemelgarn Racing/SuperFitness Rollie Beale Classic. Santos last won the Silver Crown 100-lap feature in 2017. He looks to bookend Swanson’s streak this Saturday in a large race.

Taylor Ferns is the lone representative of this race from the state of Michigan. Ferns is a native of the Detroit area, and is a law student at Wayne State University.

“Hollywood” Mike McVetta and Matt Westfall are the two representatives of Ohio in the current entry list. Mike McVetta is based out of Medina, and Westfall represents Pleasant Hill.

McVetta is known as an entertaining driver to watch, and balances racing with his day job - an Engineering Manager at the NASA Glenn Research Center in Cleveland. McVetta was profiled by NASA in 2021.

Other big names to watch include Dakoda Armstrong, Davey Hamilton Jr, Kyle O’Gara, and CJ Leary.
