Remembering Gary Weinbroer

Gary Weinbroer, who drove in 102 ARCA Menards Series events across four decades, died Feb. 3, 2023 at his home in Brook Park, Ohio at the age of 74.

Driving car #89 out of his race shop at Weinbroer Motor & Transmission in Brook Park, Weinbroer made his first series start in 1971 and raced through the 2000 season. His best season was 1989 when he drove to top-10 finishes in both races at Pocono, finished 11th in both races at Atlanta and finished 10th in the final series point standings. In all, Weinbroer is credited with five career top-10 finishes at Pocono, Toledo Speedway and Dayton Speedway, and had a career-best Daytona finish of 12th in 1979.

He served in the US Army during the Vietnam Era and was a lifetime self employed auto industry business owner. He is survived by his children Nicole Anderson and Benjamin Weinbroer, and siblings Denise (Dan) Harrison, Dona (Ted) Wolf, Debbie Weinbroer-Ellis, Diane (Jay) Bateman, Dean (Carroll) Weinbroer and Tina Weinbroer. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary and sister Karen Schwinn. Visitation is at 11am and services at 1pm at Misencik Funeral Home, 36363 Detroit Rd., Avon Ohio with interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Cleveland.
