BUSES-BOATS-STOCK CARS THRILL TOLEDO CROWD

Toledo, OH—June 18, 2021:  The skies cleared at Toledo Speedway Friday night for the Monroe Superstore School Bus Figure 8 race presented by All American Coach.  A good crowd was treated to great racing and entertainment as Dave Lambert capped off his win in the Bus race by doing a slow-motion roll at the checkered flag.

Mike Young took the win in the R & M Recycling ARCA Late Model Sportsman race, Jacob Thomas sped to victory in The Vault ARCA Factory Stock main, while Dennis Whisman Jr. was the winner in the ARCA Figure 8 feature.  Lambert doubled up his win total by taking the Boat Figure 8 race, and Whisman did the same by notching the Flag Pole race win.

A wild bus race saw Sam Mills go over early in the event, which featured some wild hits.  Mills ride had the body shift over on the chassis, and each driver took turns slamming into their competitors.  At the flag, Lambert’s slow motion roll-over had the crowd on its feet and cheering as Dave stood on top of his bus to salute the crowd.  AJ Padgett, Whisman Jr., Dennis Whisman Sr., Jack Franzil, Stephanie Bradley and Mills piloted the buses.

Bus sponsors were the Monroe Superstore, Central Avenue Truck Parts, R & M Recycling, Enviro Tire Recycling/All Resource Recycling, PB Fabrication and Earnest Brew Works.

Kenny Sharp took the lead at the green flag for the 25 lap ARCA R & M Recycling Late Model Sportsman feature race on the ½ mile paved oval. He stayed there for the first 4 circuits, with Howard Kelley Jr. taking the point on lap 5.  Mike Young snared the lead on lap 7 and held back the challenges of Greg Stilwell and Ron Allen to pick up his first win of the season.  Stilwell held on for second, Allen was third, Kelley Jr. fourth and Sharp fifth, followed by Grant Hedges, Andy Harding, Dan Grigsby, Kyle Worley, Jim Brazeau, Todd Perkins, Todd Burtscher and Robert Meiring.  Young and Grigsby took the heat wins.  Allen set quick time at 17:048.

The 20 lap The Vault ARCA Factory Stock race saw Jimmy Rae take the lead and hold it for 5 laps.  On the next go-around, Jacob Thomas snuck under Rae and built up a 5-car length lead on his way to the win, his first of the year.  Fast qualifier Brian Ringger (11:815) was second, Craig Osenbaugh third, Jeff Metdepenningen fourth and Steven Smith fifth.  Rae, Jesse Carrillo, Matt Bunting, Gabrielle Grigsby, Mike Miller, Hunter Padgett, Logan Bunting, Destiny Arnold and Randy Padgett Jr. were next in line at the finish.  Osenbaugh and Bunting took the heat race wins.

Early leader Ethen Lambert gave way to Dennis Whisman Jr. several laps into the ARCA Figure 8 race, and the second-generation youngster zipped away to victory in the 20 lap event over Lambert, Dave Lambert, Eugene Worden, Brice Thomsen and Stephanie Bradley.  Whisman also took the heat race win.

Whisman doubled down, scoring the “W” in the Flag Pole race over Dave Lambert, Worden, Kevin Stepinski, Thomas, Osenbaugh, Ethen Lambert, Logan Bunting, Thomsen and Paul Martell.

Lambert tuned up for the bus race with a win in the Boat Figure 8 contest over Ryan Mallory, Thomas, Carrillo and Stepinski.
