ARCA Championship Contenders Corey Heim and Ty Gibbs have Tough Weekend at Darlington; Toledo Up Next

ARCA Menards Series championship points leader Corey Heim made his NASCAR Camping World Truck Series debut driving for Kyle Busch Motorsports at Darlington Raceway on Friday night. Heim ran up front all night long and led two laps before getting involved in a multi-truck crash not of his doing on a late-race restart. He eventually finished 23rd. The race was won by 2018 ARCA Menards Series champion and defending NCWTS champ Sheldon Creed. Heim has two wins this season, with victories at Daytona and Talladega already in his pocket.

Ty Gibbs, currently second in the ARCA Menards Series standings, finished 17th in the NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Darlington. Gibbs has three top-five finishes in the Xfinity Series in his four career starts, including a win in his series debut on the road course at Daytona International Speedway. He has two wins to his credit in the ARCA Menards Series this season at Phoenix and Kansas.

Both Heim and Gibbs will make the trip to Toledo Speedway for the Herr's Potato Chips 200 on Saturday night, May 22. Advance discount tickets for the Herr’s Potato Chips 200 are available at Toledo-area Menards locations through May 21.

The 2021 season will kick off the previous Sunday, May 16, with the Central Avenue Truck Parts School Bus Figure 8 race featuring NASCAR driver and five-time ARCA Menards Series winner at Toledo Speedway Ken Schrader. Late model sportsman and Factory stocks are also on the card.
