REMEMBERING DEMPSEY APPERSON (updated 12-10-20)

Dempsey Apperson, a fixture at Flat Rock and Toledo Speedways, first as an ARCA Figure 8 driver and then as a car owner, passed away Friday, December 4 at the age of 76.

Visitation will take place at the Rupp Funeral Home in Monroe, MI, Saturday, December 12 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.  Services will follow.  Burial will be at the Michigan Memorial Park.

Well known to the entire pit area at both tracks, Apperson and his wife Cathy, fielded several cars for the Figure 8 division for a better part of 5 decades.  Dempsey gave many drivers their starts in his Figure 8 machines over the years.

Dempsey’s son, Dan, and grandson, Scott, followed in his footsteps competing in the Figure 8 class, with all 3 generations becoming feature winners at both tracks.

The track staff and management sends its thoughts and prayers to the Apperson family.
