Victory Custom Trailers CRA Junior Late Models Back in Action at Toledo Saturday

Salem, Indiana (September 17, 2020): The Victory Custom Trailers CRA Junior Late Models will continue their 2020 season with their fourth event of the season, this Saturday at Toledo Speedway, located in Toledo, Ohio as part of the Central Transport Glass City 200 presented by Moran Chevrolet and DTS Drive Train Specialists. The COVID-19 pandemic caused several Victory Custom Trailers CRA Junior Late Models events to be postponed or cancelled.

The Victory Custom Trailers CRA Junior Late Models was a new racing series in 2019 to focus on a youth movement for short track stock car racing that saw 10 to 15-year-old drivers compete amongst themselves for both experience and recognition in full size late models with an economical drive train and suspension alternatives. Chase Burda was the inaugural series Champion in 2019, he has now moved up to compete with the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour in 2020.

Some of the key components for the rule package for the Victory Custom Trailers CRA Junior Late Models will be the mandated use of the $3900 factory sealed Chevrolet Performance 602 crate engine. Teams will also be utilizing less expensive rear ends, transmissions and springs and spec KONI Shocks. The series will also be racing on 8-inch steel wheels and utilizing 8-inch Hoosier Racing tires. The series will compete on 3/8 mile and under racetracks with most events consisting of 8 lap heat races and a 25-lap feature.

14-year-old VanDoorn Racing Development Registered Rookie Jordon Riddick picked up the win in the series season opener at Anderson Speedway on June 13th. It was Riddick’s first ever late model race. 13-year-old second year series competitor Katie Hettinger got her first series win in the series second event of the season on July 11th at the Indianapolis Speedrome.12-year-old VanDoorn Racing Development Registered Rookie Keegan Sobilo became the third different winner in three Victory Custom Trailers CRA Junior Late Models events to date in the series last event at Anderson Speedway on August 15th.

14-year-old Evan Varney comes into Saturday’s event as the series points leader with just two series events left to determine the 2020 series Champion. Hettinger is in second, she is three points behind Varney. 12-year-old Zack Wilhelm is in third, five points behind Hettinger. Sobilo and 12-year-old Dawson Knaul are tied for fourth, they are three points behind Wilhelm. Only 11 points separates the top five drivers.

Practice will begin at noon. MPM Marketing Qualifying will begin at 3:30pm for the Victory Custom Trailers CRA Junior Late Models. Racing action will begin at 5pm and will include 8 lap heat races and a 25-lap feature for the Victory Custom Trailers CRA Junior Late Models. Also racing that evening will be the ARCA/CRA Super Series and the ARCA Gold Cup Outlaw Late Models in 100 lap features for the Central Transport Glass City 200.
