PAST WINNERS, TRACK CHAMPS, CONTENDERS PREPARE FOR GLASS CITY 200

Toledo, Ohio—September 19, 2019: It’s just 2 days before the green flag flies for the 31ST running of the Central Transport Glass City 200 presented by the Hampton Inn and Courtyard by Marriott at Toledo Speedway Saturday, September 21. The current entry lists are filled with past winners of the 200, track champions and drivers looking for that coveted Glass City win.

Tyler Roahrig (ARCA Gold Cup Late Models) and Tyler Ankrum (ARCA/CRA Late Models) are the defending race winners of the Glass City event.  Ankrum, a California native, is currently competing in the NASCAR Truck Series.

Both groups of Late Models will run 100 lap features, with each race paying $5000 to win and $800 to start.  The total purse exceeds $60,000.  The outlaw-bodied ARCA Gold Cup Late Models and the ARCA/CRA Super Series powered by Jeg’s stock-bodied Late Models will each battle in 100 lap main events on the fast ½ mile paved oval.  The ARCA/CRA race is part of the 2019 “Chase” for the Championship, while the Gold Cup contest is the final point race for that championship.

In the ARCA Gold Cup outlaw-bodied Late Model 100, Tyler and his father, JR, are both former Glass City winners and are on the way to the Glass City for Saturday’s contest.  2013 winner Dennis Strickland is also entered.  Recently-crowned track champions Frank Jiovani (Flat Rock), Adam Terry (Kalamazoo) and Jeff Ganus (Springport, MI) will be looking for their initial Glass City win.  Current Gold Cup point leader Brian Bergakker, who won the Toledo Gold Cup race in June, will be looking to seal the deal for the championship and for another win on the ½ mile paved oval.  Steve Needles, who has led the 200 lap 2012 race with just 4 laps to go, is also searching for that elusive Glass City victory. 2-time Gold cup champ Mike Root is also entered for the contest.

Jason Felver, the son of Tim Felver, the 1999 Glass City winner and, the Grand Marshal for this year’s event, will be making his first-ever appearance at Toledo.  Canadian speedster Cayden Lapcevich, who has been impressive in his Toledo runs, will be in the hunt for his first Toledo checkered flag.

The ARCA/CRA Super Series powered by Jeg’s stock-bodied Late Model field is also stacked with tough competition.  2017 ARCA/CRA Glass City winner Johnny VanDoorn leads the parade of entries.  Multi-time Toledo winner Brian Campbell (including the 2007 Glass City win in the outlaws) will be a threat, along with ARCA Menards Series driver Travis Braden, local driver Harold Fair Jr., Cody Coughlin, Hunter Jack, Jack Dossey III and more.  Doing double duty Saturday will be Kyle Crump (#131 ARCA/CRA car and #50 ARCA Gold Cup) and Albert Francis (in his #33).

New to the Glass City event this year is the debut of the CRA Jr. Late Models, a class set up for ages 10-15.  That division will run a 30 lap feature, the Jim Hettinger Memorial, on the ¼ mile September 21.

Friday, September 20 optional rig parking only will take place from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.  There will be no on-track action.

Saturday, September 21, race day begins with the pit registration at 9:30 a.m. and the pit gates opening at 10 a.m.  Practice will go from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., with qualifying at 4:30 p.m.  The ARCA Gold Cup Late Models will be shooting for the $500 LV Alliance Fast Qualifier bonus.  An on-track autograph session will take place at 5:30 for all divisions.  Pre-race driver introductions and ceremonies will begin at 6:30, followed by the race card.

A rain date of Sunday, September 22 at 1 p.m. has been established.

Tickets are now on sale, both general admission and reserved.  Call 419-727-1100 to purchase tickets.

In addition to the $500 LV Alliance Fast time bonus, Penske Shocks will award a $250 product certificate to the winner, while DTS Drive Train Specialists will dole out five (5) $50 product certificates in a random draw for the Gold Cup Late Models.

Additional sponsors for the Central Transport Glass City 200 include R & M Recycling, Penske Shocks, Bazell Race Fuels, Sunoco Race Fuels, First Care Ambulance and DTS Drive Train Specialists.

ARCA Gold Cup Series sponsors include Moran Chevrolet, DTS Drive Train Specialists, Dani’s Transport, Royal Truck and Trailer Sales, Innovative Fluids, LLC and Francis Engineering.
