HIGHLIGHTS, NOTES FROM TOLEDO’S 60TH ANNIVERSARY

Saturday night’s 60th Anniversary celebration at Toledo Speedway will long be remembered for many things! First and foremost, THANK YOU to the fans who were very patient and very, very appreciative with their applause during our 25 minute pre-race ceremony as we honored our past champions, families that represented them and former racers.

The spectacular wreck when Bob Mikolajczyk’s throttle stuck will go down in “history”, as captured by Bill Kuyoth’s photo of Bob’s #17 and Dennis Rederstorf’s # 25 pounding the foam blocks in turn 1…thank you, foam blocks!

NASCAR Monster Cup Series driver David Ragan made the trip down from Michigan International Speedway to be at Toledo for the event…he is pictured here with Ron Drager and Danny Byrd.

The exciting photo finish in the Late Model Sportsman race capped off a brilliant 35 lap event as Ron Allen nosed out Mike Young…Rand Thompson’s finish line photo caught the action!

And Paul Martell, just returning from a tour of duty, grabs the win in the Factory Stock feature race. Paul was very excited and the crowd cheered long and loud for one of our heroes…thank you for your service Paul, and to all our veterans…THANK YOU.

Our thanks to Miller Lite and Northwest Ohio Beverage for sponsoring the night, to Pepsi for the Summer Giveaways and to all of our sponsors, fans, drivers, crews and officials for being a part of this night-THANK YOU.

There are sure to be more stories told about the track and its 60 years, along with the stories mentioned above about this night, which now becomes a part of the rich tradition and history of Toledo Speedway.
