O’LEARY IV SAILS TO TOLEDO VICTORY

Toledo, Ohio-May 18, 2019: Third-generation driver Tommy O’Leary IV kicked off the 2019 ARCA Late Model Sportsman season with a victory in the 35 lap feature race at Toledo Speedway Saturday afternoon. The event was part of Pole Day at the ½ mile paved oval for the ARCA Menards Series Stock Cars.

O’Leary started on the pole via the 5 car inversion and led every lap in the all-green flag event, as Tommy grabbed the win and visited the Monroe Asphalt Winner’s Circle. Ron Allen came home second, Mike Young was third, rookie Grant Hedges was fourth and Kent McCloskey was fifth, followed by Andy Harding, Robert Meiring, Howard Kelley Jr., Adam Plonski and Jimmy Wall.

Allen had a tire go down after taking the checkered flag as he slid into turn 1. Kelley, the defending champ of the class, had engine trouble while running in second spot, ending his day early.

Hedges, at the wheel of Jim Froling’s #46, set fast time at 17:069.

The division returns to action Friday night, May 31 at Toledo as part of the race card for the Night of Destruction event. A School Bus Figure 8 race, Boat Figure 8, The Vault Antiques and Treasures Factory Stocks and….MEGASAURUS, the car-crushing, fire-breathing dinosaur are also on the schedule of events. The Monroe Superstore, Great Clips and Marco’s Pizza are sponsoring the night of family fun and entertainment.

Tickets are now on sale by calling the track at 419-727-1100. Race time is 7:30 p.m. May 31.
