GLASS CITY 200 WEEK IS HERE!

GLASS CITY 200 WEEK IS HERE!

Toledo, Ohio: One of the most prestigious pavement Late Model events in the Midwest is here! It’s the 30th Anniversary of the Central Transport Glass City 200 presented by the Holiday Inn Express, Hampton Inn and Courtyard by Marriott at Toledo Speedway Saturday, September 15.

The total purse for the event exceeds $60,000. The outlaw-bodied Late Models and the ARCA/CRA Super Series powered by Jeg’s stock-bodied Late Models will each battle in 100 lap main events on the fast ½ mile paved oval. Each race pays $5000 to the winner, with plenty of bonus awards posted for each type of Late Model.

The mail box on Monday morning contained another 5 entries for the outlaw class. Brian Bergakker, Mike Root, Brian Maxim and Dave Stehouwer, all from the west side of the state of Michigan, have filed their entries. Local driver Chris Benson is also now entered for the 100 lap contest. Additional entries are still expected this week, and indications are a few surprise entries may be in the works.

Rain has saturated the Toledo area since last Friday afternoon, but the track dried out late Monday afternoon, allowing Johnny Belott, Johnny VanDoorn, Michael Simko and Hunter Jack to hit the track in preparation for Saturday’s classic.

Friday, September 14 optional rig parking only will take place from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. There will be no on-track action.

Saturday, September 15, race day begins with the pit gates opening at 10 a.m. Practice will go from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on a rotating basis for the 2 groups of 30 minutes for each session. Qualifying will begin at 5 p.m., with the outlaw-bodied Late Models shooting for the $500 LV Alliance Fast Qualifier bonus. An on-track autograph session will take place at 6 and racing begins at 7 p.m.

A rain date of Sunday, September 16 at 1 p.m. has been established.

Tickets are now on sale, both general admission and reserved. Call 419-727-1100 to purchase tickets.

Lap money sponsorship is also available at $5 per lap for both 100 lap contests.
