Cometic Gasket 200 at Toledo Speedway Up Next
The ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS will head to Toledo Speedway, located in Toledo, Ohio, for this Friday’s Cometic Gasket 200 presented by PNC Bank event, which will also include racing action from the ARCA Gold Cup Outlaw Late Models. The event was originally scheduled to take place on April 14th, but was postponed because of weather.  
 
Josh Brock comes into Saturday’s event as the series points leader after getting his first ever series victory at Anderson Speedway on May 5th. Senneker Performance Rookie of the Year point leader Austin Kunert is second in season Championship points after picking up his first series win at Kil-Kare Raceway on June 2nd, he is only five points behind Brock. Fellow rookie Jon Beach is in third place, he is 47 points behind Kunert. 2017 series Champion and Senneker Performance Rookie of the Year Logan Runyon and Hunter Jack are tied for fourth in series points, they are 12 points behind Beach. All the top five are entered for Saturday’s event.
 
2017 event winner Brian Campbell is entered, he picked up the win at the series last event, the $20,000 to win Money in the Bank 150 at Berlin Raceway on June 11th, which was a special non-points event. With the win Campbell now has 25 series wins to date, second only to Scott Hantz who has 31total series wins. Campbell passed three time series Champion Johnny VanDoorn on lap 77 to go on and get the victory over VanDoorn in last season’s event.
 
Also entered is 2013 event winner VanDoorn, who scored three series victories during the 2017 season. VanDoorn is now fourth in series all time victories with 21. VanDoorn is looking to pick up his first series victory of the 2018 season, he has been to victory lane in a Berlin Raceway template late model event earlier this season.
 
Three time series Champion and the series all-time victory leader Scott Hantz is entered for Friday’s race. Friday will be Hantz’s 2018 series debut as he looks to add to his series victories bench mark on Friday.
 
Former series Toledo winner Harold Fair Jr. is entered for Friday’s race. Fair has raced Outlaw Late Models mainly the past several years, but made a hand full of starts with the series in 2017, including scoring a second place finish at Flat Rock Speedway. Friday will be Fair Jr.’s first series start of the 2018 season, but he has made a couple starts with the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour.
 
Canadian Cayden Lapcevich is also entered driving a team car to Fair Jr. This will be Lapcevich’s third CRA start, he also raced at the season opening SpeedFest 2018 non-points event and finished fourth in the series May 6th event at Anderson Speedway. Lapcevich has raced in the NASCAR Pinty Series the last three season scoring six wins and the series 2016 Championship.
 
Other CRA regulars also entered include Kyle Crump, Greg Van Alst, Nick Grodi, Josh Smith, rookie Carson Hocevar, the 2017 JEGS/CRA All-Star Tour Rookie of the Year and a rookie record three time winner in 2017 and fellow rookies Tristan VanWieringen and Billy Van Meter. Former series regular John Long is entered to make his series 2018 debut.
 
Former Toledo Outlaw Late Model and ARCA Racing Series competitor Michael Simko is entered to race Saturday night. Simko will be making his third series start of the 2018 season.
 
California racer Tyler Ankrum is entered, he currently leads the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East points with one series win so far in 2018. Ankrum competed in both 2017 series events at Toledo, getting a fifth place finish in the spring and a third place finish in the Glass City 200 event in September.
 
Wisconsin hot shoe Dennis Prunty will travel south to compete in Friday’s event. Prunty won the 2015 Slinger nationals at Slinger Speedway and scored an ARCA Midwest Tour win in 2016. His best series finish was a fourth at Anderson Speedway in May of 2016.
 
Pit Gates open on Friday at 12:30pm, ARCA/CRA Super Series practice will go from 3:30pm to 4:30pm. EDCO Welding Qualifying will begin at 6pm. The Cometic Gasket 200 presented by PNC Bank is set to begin at 7:30pm with the ARCA/CRA Super Series 100 lap feature, then the 100 lap feature for the ARCA Gold Cup Outlaw Late Models, then a 50 lap feature for the ARCA Late Model Sportsman and a 20 lap Figure 8 race to cap off the huge night of racing action.
