Toledo, Ohio: April 10, 2018: Veteran racer Dave Mader III has filed his entry for the ARCA Gold Cup outlaw Late Model portion of the Cometic Gasket 200 presented by PNC Bank, set for this Saturday afternoon, April 14 at Toledo Speedway. The ARCA CRA Super Series presented by Jeg’s stock-bodied Late Models will also compete in the season opener, with both groups tackling the fast ½ mile paved oval in 100 lap contests.

Mader III has competed in just about every type of stock car series in his career, including NASCAR. Mader, 62, was in the field for the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards event at Daytona this past February. The Irvington, AL speedster will be at the wheel of an outlaw Late Model at the fast ½ mile paved oval. Dave was the NASCAR All-American Challenge Series Late Model champion in 4 consecutive years-1985-1988, was the Snowball Derby winner in 1978 and won the Michigan ARCA 200 at Michigan International Speedway in 1991.

Several additional entries arrived during the weekend, including 2-time Gold Cup champ Mike Root, second-generation driver Jack Varney Jr., third generation driver Tom O’Leary IV and a second car from the Francis Engineering team, with the driver to be announced.

Johnny VanDoorn and Brian Campbell have staged some great battles at Toledo over the past seasons in the ARCA/CRA event at Toledo. Brian is the defending race winner. Former ARCA Gold Cup champion and Glass City 200 winner Harold Fair Jr. is also entered. Rising star Carson Hocevar leads a strong field of rookie drivers that will compete in the ARCA/CRA 100 lap contest Saturday afternoon.

Canadian Rapheal Lessard will pilot a Kyle Busch Motorsports entry, and 2016 NASCAR Canadian Pinty Series champion Cayden Lapcevich will be a teammate for Fair Jr. at Toledo this weekend. Fellow Canadian resident Stuart Friesen will make his first-ever appearance at Toledo and currently competes on the NASCAR Truck Series tour.

Fans can save $5 on advance sale tickets ($20) if purchased prior to 5 p.m. Friday, April 13. Tickets are available by calling Toledo Speedway at (419) 727-1100 or downloading the order form from the Toledo website; it is located under the form button. Children 6-12 are just $3 each and under 6 are free.

Sunny Media will once again sponsor the Good Weather Guarantee for race day, assuring that the temperature will be at least 55 degrees with no rain at the track at 3 p.m. April 14. If it is raining at the advertised race time start (3 p.m.) or the temperature is less than 55 degrees, those who have purchased advanced tickets will receive a free ticket to the next event at Toledo Speedway, the USAC Silver Crown race May 4.

Gold Cup Series sponsors include Moran Chevrolet, Dani’s Transport, Royal Truck and Trailer Sales, Diamond Racing Products, DTS Drive Train Specialists, Francis Engineering and HABCO Tool and Development.

VanDoorn Racing Development is sponsoring the $100 Fast Qualifier award, and Fastime Racing Engines and Parts will honor the Champion Crew Chief with a $250 cash award at the annual awards banquet in November. The Series champion will collect $1000, with $600, $400, $300 and $200 cash awards posted for position 2-5 in the final points.

The weekend kicks off with an open practice session for both divisions Friday afternoon, April 13 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Admission to the grandstands is free Friday afternoon.

Spectator gates will open at 10 a.m. Saturday, with final practice for both divisions. Qualifying is scheduled for 1 p.m., followed by an on-track autograph session with all drivers from both groups. The first of two 100-lap features is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.
