TOLEDO SPEEDWAY RELEASES STREET DRAG INFORMATION

Toledo, OH—March 23, 2018: Track officials have released additional information for the start of the Street Drag events at Toledo Speedway for the 2018 season. An informational meeting March 17 saw 20 individuals attend the session.

 General information and the format for the events, along with the brackets and an explanation of each follows:

DON’T TAKE THINGS TOO SERIOUSLY- just have fun and relax!

2018 SCHEDULE

Friday, May 11: Test Night! 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Friday, May 25-Race

Friday, July 6-Race

Friday, August 3-Race

IF YOU ARE ENTERING THE PITS:

  • All viewing will be from behind the ¼ mile wall in designated area or main grandstand area, be aware for your own safety at all
  • No Carry Ins. Alcohol is not permitted in pits.
  • If you are not racing, park your car in the main parking lot, then sign into pit area and enter on
  • Please drive slowly when exiting Speedway, as there may be children in this

IF YOU ARE DRAG RACING:

  • No Burnouts!
  • DRIVER must have valid driver’s license to compete; Seat belt secured and helmet on to compete.
  • There is no limit on practice runs (as time permits). Just pull up to the line. We will release you. You may get in line in the pre-staging area (turn 4 of the ½ mile track).
  • No speeding after drag runs. SLOW DOWN THROUGH THE TURN!
  • If we have determined you have “red lighted” you will be notified on
  • All brackets are double elimination. Once you win the Bracket- we ask that you not participate in that bracket for the next (Except for the Open Brackets).
  • When bracket racing begins, we will separate you into your “bracket”. We may combine brackets, depending on the number of vehicles entered. The brackets are run in that respective order as well. After each of your bracket runs, you must stop on the backstretch. An Official will guide you on where to go. If you are eliminated from your bracket, you must go into the pits. We may split (break out) a Bracket if we have a large number of cars or have performance differences
    • Drag to the finish line at the flag stand.
    • Be aware that we will not tolerate stupidity. This means while racing, or at any other time. Any persons, whom may have consumed alcohol prior or during the event (parking lot out in front of track), may not participate. This is about having fun. Relax and enjoy the

 

TENTATIVE SCHEDULE:

5:30 - Pit Opens    6:15 – Practice runs 7:30 - Racing

(Grandstands also open at 5:30 p.m.)

REGISTRATION, PIT PASSES, GRANDSTAND TICKET INFORMATION

Car registration: $10; Pit passes-$10

Grandstands: Adults-$10, children 6-12 are $3, under 6 are free

 Registration is out in front of ticket office, at the roller gate

Drivers: pull up to gate, stay in car to register to race and pay for registration and pit pass. **Registration to race ENDS AT 7:25 SHARP! All others go to ticket window to buy pit passes and /or grandstand tickets; enter through spectator walkway.

Cars/crew may go across the track at the crossover gate from 5:30-6:10 p.m.     Gate will shut when practice runs begin at 6:15. After 6:10, drivers will continue to register at the gate, but enter the track by using the pit entrance on west end of grounds. Proceed to gate onto the ½ mile track and follow directions of track personnel.

Spectators: Will use center main grandstand only. Concession stand/rest rooms available.

TOLEDO SPEEDWAY BRACKET DESCRIPTIONS

OPEN: Open to any type of car—“Run what ya Brung”. Typically cars that are specifically built or modified to be drag race cars.

DETROIT IRON OEM: Muscle cars from the days gone by, 1960’s-1980’s. OEM means car is “original equipment manufacturer” or “stock” as if it was straight off the production line without modifications.

FAMILY SEDANS: Any OEM street car that does not fit in any other brackets. Non-performance vehicles. OEM—Original Equipment Manufacturer—or “stock” as if it was straight off the production line without modifications.

DOMESTIC PERFORMANCE OEM: An OEM Street Car, similar to family sedan, but has performance-enhancing products on it.

2WD TRUCKS OEM: Pickup trucks that are rear-wheel drive only, and strictly stock OEM. OEM means Original Equipment Manufacturer—or “stock” as if it was straight off the production line without modifications.

JEEPS: The name says it all!

TUNER PERFORMANCE: Any 3, 4, or 6 cylinder car with short wheelbase. Aftermarket parts and performance enhancing products are permitted.

VANS: Full size vans, Mini-Vans or SUV’s. OEM only.

MUSTANG OEM: Strictly for Ford Mustang in OEM condition—“original equipment manufacturer” or stock--as if it was straight off the production line without modifications.

MUSTANG: Any Ford Mustang.

NOS OR FORCED AIR: Any car or truck that uses Nitrous Oxide or has forced air.

DETROIT IRON: Muscle cars from the days gone by. Muscle cars from the 1960’s-1980’s produced by Chevrolet, GM, Dodge/Chrysler, Ford. Non-OEM, meaning performance-enhancing products may be used.

4WD GASOLINE: Cars or trucks that use gasoline only. Vehicle must be set to 4-Wheel drive.

4WD DIESEL: Cars, trucks, SUV’s that use diesel fuel only. Vehicle must be set to 4-Wheel drive.

HIGH SCHOOL: For High School students that hold a valid driver’s license.

GRUDGE MATCH: Match up against your buddy, girlfriend, spouse, brother, sister, Dad or Mom!
