December 15, 2017: The 2018 schedules for Flat Rock, MI and Toledo, OH Speedways have been released. The 2 paved short tracks, just 30 miles apart, are both sanctioned by the Automobile Racing Club of America (ARCA).
Toledo’s ½ mile high-banked oval kicks off the new season on Saturday, April 14, featuring the Spring 200. A pair of 100 lap contests for the stock-bodied ARCA/CRA Super Series Late Models powered by Jeg’s and the ARCA outlaw-bodied Late Model Gold Cup Series take center stage for the afternoon contest.
New to Toledo for next season is the introduction of Street Drags and a Classic Car Show on 3 dates-one each in June, July and August. A test session is scheduled in May. More details will be coming soon.
Toledo will also add another pair of new events to its 2018 slate. The Bandit Big Rig Series, featuring Semi-Trucks racing on the ½ mile, is set for Saturday, August 11. And the Traxxas Monster Truck Tour will visit the track for the first time Saturday-Sunday, September 29-30, with a new twist—dirt will be applied to the short track for the show. Again, more details regarding both events will be coming in the New Year.
Flat Rock Speedway begins its 66th consecutive season of racing Saturday night, April 28. The track’s 3 weekly divisions, the same classes that have been featured at the ¼ mile paved track since 1977-the ARCA Late Models, Figure 8’s and Street Stocks will provide the action and entertainment again in 2018.
Saturday night racing will again be the mainstay of Flat Rock, but a Friday night event August 10 is also on the calendar for 2018.
As announced last May, the Bandolero cars will compete eight (8) times next season. The purpose-built race cars for ages 8-14 have staged several exhibition races the past 2 seasons at the track.
The track will host an Equipment Auction and Race Car parts/race car auction Saturday, April 7 for the first time. Track management has also moved the Level Pebble 200 up to June 23 from its August date of last season.
A few minor changes may occur prior to the new season.
