VANDOORN, NEEDLES LEAD SPRING 200 PRACTICE SESSIONS
Toledo, Ohio—April 21, 2017: Johnny VanDoorn and Steve Needles turned in the fastest times for their respective divisions during Friday afternoon’s practice session at Toledo Speedway. The 2017 Season Opener, the Spring 200, takes place tomorrow, Saturday afternoon, April 22.
VanDoorn stopped the clocks at 15:463 to top the chart for the ARCA/CRA Super Series powered by Jeg’s Late Models, while Needles, the defending Gold Cup champ, clicked off a lap at 14:915.
Harold Fair Jr. had the misfortune of tagging the foam blocks in turn 3 with his Gold Cup Late Model, inflicting heavy damage. Harold was ok, the car was not. Fair and his crew headed back home to Milan, MI to put the engine in another car, with the plan to return Saturday.
Saturday’s schedule has practice at 10 a.m., time trials are at 1, followed by an on-track autograph session for both groups. Driver introductions will follow. The ARCA Super 6 Gold Cup 100 lap feature will be the first event starting at 3 p.m., followed by the ARCA/CRA Super Series powered by JEG’S Late Model 100 lap contest.
